Al Gore Presidency
Those three words together give me the shivers. But if Gore had been president would we have Roberts and Alito on the Supreme Court? If a Dem gets elected this time, there will be at least 3 more vacancies, do we want those vacancies left to a Democrat? McCain may not be Mr. Conservative but you can bet he'll appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court. It doesn't get much more important than that.

judges
Judges are a huge issue, you are absolutely right and make a great point. Not just on the S.C. but the circuit courts as well. I'd have to double check the timelines, but I think both of those vacancies could have held out for four years of Gore. I agree with you on who McCain will nominate as well. Now if Congress would actually get them in the seats! Nonetheless, the overall point I was trying to make is that we should defend conservative principles, not necessarily individual politicians. Great feedback, thanks for the input.

NCLB
I feel like NCLB was passed to make public schools spend so much money and wasted time on the constant testing that it will make vouchers look so enticing. Have worked in public schools for 10 years in special education. Stop spending my tax dollars to make special education students take tests that they will never pass.

You should check out George Will's column, "Education Lessons We Left Behind"

Will at his best - focused like a laser. He has a bit of a different take on NCLB. NCLB has the one common denominator of the worst type of legislation - bipartisan support!
