Protect "Abortion Rights" (and "Slavery Rights"???)

warfare with words

The left discovered 40 years ago or so, that the right choice of words was very powerful. The term "pro-choice" was invented by Madison Av. (NYC's Ad agencies row). It was never a "grassroot" word. It was designed to deflect criticism of their cause (how does someone defend something so horrible). But more importantly it was designed to marginalize the opposition. It makes the pro-life movement in the "anti" light (since they were pro-choice the opposite of it is ANTI-choice). It makes the pro-life movement the negative rather then the rightful postion in the positive. How many times is the pro-life movement called the pro-life movement? Not very often! It has worked VERY well for them.

"Pro Choice", aka rationalization

The word "abortion" brings terrible thoughts to mind. I'd like to think that liberals needed this new phrase because even in their dark, cold hearts the word brings up revulsion and pangs of conscience.

The term pro-choice is basically a way to deflect the issue onto another one, i.e. individual rights. It's fallacious, too; they aren't pro-school vouchers or pro-religious institutions or pro-second amendment or a whole array of other subjects that represent a right to choose. As I like to say, when a liberal says "pro-choice" what they mean is "I support you doing and believing that of which I approve."

Excuse me, I neither solicited nor desired your approval.

Actions vs. Words?

I never thought of...or have negative connotations for the word "pro-life" which is what I believe Rich is suggesting the word "pro-choice" was made to do.
This could just be seen the other way as well ...we say "pro-life" bc those who are "pro-choice" are "for death." But are they really?

I say why argue the word? Its about the action itself.
