You're so right.
I have been guilty of voting for 1 Blue Dog Democrat one time; the only one I've voted for in over 20 years. When I got busy and tacked his voting record, I became aware of exactly what you're saying. Shame on me!
I keep thinking, (wishing) that if there's any such thingas a real "Blue Dog" out there, they'll see the error of their ways and switch parties. We'll just wait & see. I'm probably just dreaming a fool's dream.
Good work, Skep.

Sorry to say, you've got the electorate
pegged, Skep. Yet I constantly hear "how'd we let this happen?" We accepted a little here, a little there - the camel got his nose under the tent and now we've got a tent full of camels, slobbering and crapping all over the place. We either fight back (2010 elections first) or we decide to give up all ambition, taking any chances, saving money, etc. and resign ourselves to become one of the proletariat class and get used to mediocrity. If we choose to give up, we deserve whatever comes of it.

One time the Republicans ran a guy who was so stupid for the Senate that I voted for Dianne Feinstein. My only Democrat vote. She has always been one of the more personally likable Democrats as far as I am concerned. Since she got 70% of the vote I figured I wasnt hurting anyone and I just wanted to be a bit naughty.

The Roosevelt Rot will take a lot to overcome. People will only get back to basics when they are faced with a dire situation. We can count on the Obamunists to achieve a dire situation so you're right, we have to be fighting all the time for what we believe in. Its not going to be easy.

Stunning statement!
Your post is a great read and really captures what happens when 'we the people' abrogate our responsibilities. Thanx for the thinking piece.
BTW, you nailed Jim Webb perfectly. It was obvious to me what he stood for, but my fellow Virginians did not agree. Fancy that.

I cant imagine what the reason is that made people vote for that guy. If you voted for him because he ran as a conservative why not vote for George Allen, who really was a conservative? He's up in 2012. Maybe the anti-Obama backlash will topple him.

I voted for Feinstein too. She was running against Huffington. That was before he turned gay or bi and divorced Ariana. I also thought it was cool because she was a woman. Oh stop! I know!
I am tired of hearing about Blue Dogs and purple districts.

The jokes on Bawney, no salary to control!
I didn't vote for Webb but he did manage to get to the right of George Allen who was too busy thinking about being president and not paying attention to business. Macaca aside, Allen took his campaign into the mushy middle acting like a fake centrist presidential candidate.
That coupled with all our new "friends" from the northeast who apparently are finished screwing up their own states and have moved south to work on mine.
Do you really think that your friend the CE will connect his employment problem with leftists or will he blame it on Bush and vote for Waxman again?
The market is having a gay old time, of course they already got their welfare checks. Bull market and rising unemployment; what's wrong with this picture?
BTW, new post. I don't usually write about the entertainment industry but I couldn't pass this one up.

When training a horse, the whip HAS to be AN OPTION, but NOT the ONLY option. Some are smart and friendly, some are smart and mean, some are stupid and mean and some are down right CONTRARY! The whip is RARELY needed with the 1st group, it is needed OCCASIONALLY with the 2nd group, it is needed REGULARLY with the 3rd group. The 4th group is good fro nothing but dog food, so why bother. You figure out what personality they have and go from there. My point is, the whip is used to get the attention of an animal that outweighs me 4 to 1 AT THE VERY LEAST and is IMMEASURABLY stronger. Therefore, we must USE THE WHIP (i.e. the vote, email, faxes, etc.) to get the attention of the Blue Dogs, Red Dogs and other assorted Washington animals.
BTW to continue the horse analogy, Paul Ryan is a STUD!

I do believe that most of those blue dog democrats are going to go ahead and vote for a huge spending bill that has cap and trade as well as national healthcare in it. I do have confidence that Evan Bayh won't, however. He was more conservative than the republican he ran against in the last election, which he has won every election comfortably here even though Indiana is a republican state. I don't think he's going to fold. He didn't in the Omnibus Bill. The others, I have no confidence in. Good piece. New post up, Skep.

I think it was when Huffington was running. Arianna went on the John and Ken Show, a big AM local show, and by the time the interview was over I was convinced that I was going to vote for Feinstein. She also was a great mayor of San Francisco.

Bush is already forgotten. I dont think people that intelligent will be lead by slogans. There is a psychology of crowds, they tend to stampede in one direction or another when they are frightened. The crash in October set the stage for Obama in November. I dont think that the reasons that my friend voted for Obama will be valid in a year. I think that a lot of people who think they are Democrats will rebel against what's going on.

It cant hurt. If there are moderate Democrats they should be on the same notice as moderate Republicans that there is a loud, active and growing opposition to Obamunism.

Who did he vote for to be Speaker Of The House? The leadership might let him vote to the right occasionally to stay cool with his constituents but if he caucuses for Pelosi he's no moderate.

Bayh is evidence that there is resistence starting to develop against the fullblown liberal agenda. We can only all keep up the pressure. But I'll ask the same question I asked of drpete...who did Bayh vote for to be Senate Majority Leader?

I fear that I will never understand life in the mushy middle. I've always found it easiest to just stick to my understanding of the constitution as the politics parade passes by.
I didn't start out on the far right, and tempered by experience, I haven't changed my ideology but now both parties have moved to the left of me.
I'll still be here if they ever come back this way, still clinging to my copy of the constitution.

Great Post!!
"dyed-in-the-wool out-and-out commie left-wing socialist America-hating anti-capitalist freedom-ending radical Marxist"
Way to call a spade a spade. We have one of those so-called "blue dogs" from my district in the House. I write him every chance I get, and I am not polite. I have referenced bits and pieces of your little diatribe above in the past, and the funny thing is, he doesn't deny it or try to refute anything I have accused him of. He just touts some watered down version of the dem talking points, like he's not as bad as Reid, Pelosi et al. What a puke. Our local 912 group has him in the crosshairs for 2010. I think his gig is up...
I have to go stock my shelves with some more non-perishables now. Don't tell anyone...

Lets see if its possible to unseat anyone. The Dems are trying to steal the election in New York just like they stole the one in Minnesota. Now the Democrats have a built-in 2 or 3% edge in every election.
I'm trying to stock some non-perishables. With these climate commissars overseeing agriculture its not a bad idea. Its the 401k I never had.
