LEGISLATING LISTENING

Ain't seen You 'round in a while...

...and the "fairness" doctrine isn't anything other than to squash capitalism.

SQUASHING CAPITALISM

Hey, Jimmy -- You haven't forgotten!

The so-called "Fairness Doctrine" is anything but fair. It would appear to me also to be a vehicle for making sure that there's not enough time in the day to broadcast ALL contrary views on a subject, and therefore it would be necessary, perhaps, to shut them ALL down. What's fair about that?

Friggle

If the success of "Air America" is any indicator of the power of left-wing radio then the left's only alternative is to try and pass the "fairness" doctrine to silence the competition.

If they can't beat it they will try and ban it.

IF YOU CAN'T BEAT 'EM, BAN 'EM?

Sgt Relic! -- Thanks for stopping in to say hello.

You know we can't let that happen -- banning the conservative talk shows. I'm all for liberals having as many TV and radio talk shows as they can get on the air. Just let's make it fair -- as long as it's being called the "Fairness" doctrine.

As long as I don't have to pay for any of their rot, they can talk until their lips fall off. You just have to question whether, if nonsense flies through the air and falls on deaf ears, does it really make a sound?

If sponsors want to sponsor it, they can, but they cannot, cannot make anybody listen to it. Listening cannot be legislated. You know that old story about leading a horse to water. Of course, there's always the conservative radio/TV talk show torture, sort of like water torture.......
