Supremely Anti-American

Issues

a] Gitmo prisoners are not Americans on American soil. They are the ENEMY. They are on Cuban soil, leased by the United States.

b] The abuses are only supposition at this point, neither I or you know they have been 'abused'. They may have been questioned harshly, I hope so.

c] My rights as an American were not on trial, they have been codified in and by the Constitution. If I were to engage in undeclared warfare on another nation and was captured by that nation, I live or die by the laws of that nation.
The Gitmo prisoners were captured outside the jurisdiction of the United States.

d] Last and most important. Warfare is not a legal issue to be taken through the court system. Warfare against combatants or enemy non-combatants is just that - war.
Get over it.

Four Justices had their head screwed on straight, five had an agenda of judicial acitivism to foist off on the US.

Supreme Court Ruling Against U.S

Just more evidence that Our Leaders feel the need to punish We The People by rolling in thier own excrement and self flagellation. They say "Oh those poor Islamic Terrorist Enemy Combatants. Bull Crap". We should only be treated so well if we were in the same boat. no i would say not, just ask the innocents that crossed thier paths not wearing a head scarf; those reporters and contractors who lost thier heads and thier lives. If any of these people are indeed innocent then I will pray they are revealed and freed. They have the Geneva Convention, They do not need the rights of a US citizen as well. They want to kill us let us deny them this pleasure.

response to "boaz:"

a) I didn't write that the prisoners at Gitmo are "Americans on American soil." You wrote that. I wrote that they are human beings under American control. If we're committed to democracy and human rights we will apply that committment to all people regardless of nationality. Failure to do so jeopardizes our freedoms in this country. Neither you nor I nor any member of any government has any right to decide that some people, for whatever reason, should not be treated as human beings. That kind of discrimination is exactly what the principals of democracy opposes. Obvviously, as we can tell from Fred Thompson's column and the behavior of the Bush Administration, those principals of democracy, freedom, respect for human rights and international law, are not supported by Republicanism.

b) The abuses are not "supposition at this point." They've been proven and documented. Rendition is a reality. Abuse by the US military has been photgraphed at Abu Garib, and if the US government and military have no conscience about abusing inmates in Iraq, torturing prisoners until they die in Afghanistan as documented in "Taxi to the Dark Side," you can be sure they're doing the same thing at Gitmo. All it takes is a little homework on your part to discover the truth. I encourage you to check it out.

c) Re-read point a

d) Warfare does not change humans into non-humans. They same human rights apply whether or not we choose to acknowledge it.

Thanks.
