“Air Raiding Villages And Bombing Civilians” Now A Democratic Platform?

How long have we been in...

...Germany? Japan?

Have the American public shown any real misgivings about our presence in those countries?

Would you like to know the difference?

Germany and Japan were, and are, both populated by peoples who had, and have, some form of civilized social structure. Their populations had a genuine intrest in rising out of squalor and bettering themselves. There is no such driving force at work in Afghanistan, actually it is much the opposite.

Either withdraw from Afgha or surge big

and try to win, not piecemeal like in Iraq!
I disagree with Hannity and other war hawks; this is a no win war situation and in fact is a land of no value. Al'qaida will return whenever we finally leave anyway. Why invest billions and more bloodshed, when we need to fix America and have no money to spare? Is Obambi a peace maker or just a hawk in sheeps clothing?

Ray

No such at this time, if we stay could become so.

Look at the social structure that those two countries had to be brought out from. Look at Japan and how it was before WWII and what the US occupation brought it back from. Germany before WWII was brought out of chaos\ by the evil of Hitler, the occupation had to bring them back from that. Yes they had and interest, do we just write off Afghan because they don't [now] fit that mold?

miss vicky

Fish or cut bait. In for the long haul or get out now.

The problem jevica is...

...the Germans and Japanese had both a social structure to build upon and a desire to better themselves. Afghanistan shows no interest in either. The evils of the Nazis and feudal classes in Japan notwithstanding, it was the desire of the people and their belief, that allowed them to move forward after their countries were destroyed.

This desire is not in Afghanistan.

Ray

So just throw them back to the wolves?

jevica, they are...

...the wolves. Rabid to boot.

Show me where they have a collective desire to better their lot. There are individuals to be sure, I am acquainted with some, but the culture as a whole? I see little to no evidence. These people, as a societal whole, would rather die than see their culture or civilization advance and if they must kill their own in order to save them from that change they will do this also.

What I find even more absurd is that while the Taliban takes responsibility for one mass bombing after another, our Glorious Leader insists that they will be part of the Afghan political structure.
