NYT and 2001: A Space Odyssey
Remember the opening scene where the monkeys go wild and start throwing bones because they don't understand the monolith? That's the NYT editorial board.
I'm no financial scholar but my instincts told me human nature and bad math were at the bottom of this. Thanks so much for your clarification of all things economic, Fletch.

as usual. Eagerly awaiting your thoughts on what should have been done instead of the bailout and what should be done now, post-bailout.

Great analysis, and of course, I fully endorse your conclusion. The Kennedy paraphrase is priceless.

Indeed.
WHat have they done to us? I am ready for a revolution, really and truly. The thought of Bernanke adding more bs to what is already false shoring of economic policy galls me. I was trying to see who voted how on the bailout...but I had not been paying close enough attention. I was looking for the words "bullshitt bailout package"! Imagine that I found it under "emergency economic...!!"
