Failures in the church

Cory,

You seem to view Christianity as a one time experience.

I don't find that to be biblical.

How do you explain the following verses?

Matthew 7:21, "Not every one who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven."

Luke 9:23, "If an man would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."

Romans 2:6-7, "For He will render to every man according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, He will give eternal life."

James 1:22, "Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."

James 2:14, "What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?"

Best Regards,

Kyle

Kyle, I am not sure what you are saying?
In regard to Matt 7:21 there are many false profits and those claiming to be Christians. Luke 9:23 Give up your earthly desires and exchange them for heavenly, not to focus on the moment but eternity. Romans 2:6-7We are rewarded by our works, but saved by grace.
James 1 and 2 are an illustration of what Jesus said you can judge a tree by it's fruit. Works are an outward expression of an inward faith.
Now to what I was saying is that the CHURCH is failing to express the real Gospel and you bring up a good one that proves that Matt 7:21. Too many people are diluting the scripture to mean eat, drink and be merry and all roads lead to heaven. If you are nice to your neighbor you'll go to heaven.
All religions are equal and a bunch of other heresies. You may attend a church that focuses on the bible, but if you blog on other liberal sites you will find many who either go or claim to go to church and believe all roads lead to heaven. Scandals from Hagerd to Swaggart are proof that the church is failing. Living what Christ taught is what a Christian should strive for, not just say he was a nice man.

Right On!

My name is Chris Earl and I am just looking to connect with other bloggers from Mo. I have a blog called Renegade Rants you may find interesting posts on. If you are in the St. Louis area I would like to encourage you to attend a pro-life rally on Sat. August 2nd at the planned parenthood location at forest park and boyle. We need Christian Men to get out and stand against the atrocities of pre-born child slaughter.
