It seems that the lessons of the past get quickly lost. I reflected earlier today that almost no one under 50 really remembers the Carter years, at least not from the position of a taxpayer.
The younger voters are about to find out what us gray beards were yammering about.
Here comes Jimma the Peanut II, on steroids!

....I have dared Obama supporters, who argue that this economy is the worst since the depression, to look under the Carter years....I even posted the wikipedia link for them. They refused to even look.
I entered my early teens during the Carter years and that is why I fell in love with Reagan....he made me realize this country wasnt near as bad as Carter was making it out to be.

Even MORE importantly,
why were there "Carter years" to begin with?
Because the GOP did the same thing THEN they did NOW.
They ran a RINO (Ford) who was very weak on conservative principle, and thus got very few conservatives voting for him.
It's a very simple lesson, repeatedly forgotten by the GOP.

This is one big reason the GOP shrinks
The American people want from the GOP isn't more talk about Obama, they want to hear talk about them.

Bryce....the first step is identifying the problem....and right now, its OBAMA! Part two is finding a person to address the problems.
BrianR....first, sorry I ruined your monopoly on the name LOL
Second, I think that after Watergate, Ronald Reagan himself would have lost to Carter...wait a minute....come to think of it, he couldnt even beat Ford in the primaries.

At the risk of reigniting the firestorm that raged here at TH for so long, I'll revisit the voting thing just once more.
Those who voted FOR Obama get the credit for his future misdeeds. Independents are a myth. They are consistently 70% democrat voters and this election wasn't all that different.
The conservative voters who stayed home and the third party voters who jumped ship are the reason the punditry, and most here at TH, are calling for a serious return to conservative principles.
If McCain had won we would be hearing the cheers for RINO's and a call to move even farther to the left. I still believe that this was our best case outcome.
Only time will tell.

Sgt, if it'd been, say, Kerry, then
maybe. Obama, however, is diabolical.
