Carter: Give up your pres’ pension.

Where is the left when Carter talks to Hamas against the will of the world community? The world has agreed that no one will talk to Hamas until they repent from bombing innocent Israelis and others. Carter undermines the UN and talks to Hamas. When Bush went into Iraq without the UN’s unified support, the left cried bloody murder. When Carter talks with Hamas, the left…what? Multilateral support doesn’t matter anymore? The left’s moral blindness when it comes to Israel is overwhelming. They can’t all be senile.
What has Carter done besides rendering the Nobel “Peace” Prize meaningless? He has hindered any progress towards peace. He has broken a long standing American tradition that former presidents don’t publicly criticize current presidents. He has shamed the American public. His is making the Democrats look bad, but I would rather the Democrats look good and peace be achieved.
This rogue president is accepting tax payer money. And he should give the money back. The world would be better off without Jimmy Carter. At the very least, we shouldn’t have to finance his idiocy.

Carter Give up your pres' pension

Well put, my friend

Bob

I am going to disagree with you on Carter.

First, Israel had two PMs who were terrorists during the British Mandate.

Second, we are witnessing the second time Hamas has offered to conditionally recognize Israel. The last time was during the late Spring of 2006. Also during that time, Hamas observed a 16 month moratorium against attacking Israel which it violated only once. In response, Israeli forces killed over one hundred Palestinians.

Third, Israeli academic, Naomi Chazan, put it best, we need to put Hamas into the position of having to keep their word. You cannot do that when your unconditional response is violence.

Fourth, it is not logical to use the Chamberlain and the Nazi analogy. Why? Because the Nazis were the aggressors then. Here, Israel is the aggressor as it:

i. keeps taking land from the Palestinians,
ii. violates international law by building settlements on occupied land
iii. Uses violence to oppress the violence. Violence includes using snipers to shoot at innocent Palestinians, bulldozing their homes regardless of whether the inhabitants are inside, uses collective punishment which also violates international law, cuts off supplies of fuel for electricity, food and medicine, controls economics conditions to keep the Palestinians poor, and that is just the beginning.

What Carter is doing is Biblically and humanly correct.

Thank you for the warm invitation. It will take a little while for me to read. I am preparing to teach 3 summer classes in the same summer session. You might be interested to know that one of the classes is a World Religions Class.

In the meantime, I will leave a few links for you to read if you have the time and interest.
