Comment on: One Of The Election Of Grace

IS THERE A PURGATORY?

Just curious!

That was a good post. Never having been Catholic, I have a hard time believing that there are reasoning people that still believe in that particular doctrine. I am curious though, what is your belief about God's criteria for the heavenbound? You mention 'making the right choice and living one's life honorably," and I wonder if that was just a figure of speech or if you understand that any 'missing of the mark' of perfection sentences us all to spiritual 'death,'and that we need to accept the atoning death of that perfect one in each of our places.
Jesus, 100% God and 100% man is the only one that meets the criteria for a substitution for sinners.
He stood in the gap for me.

Thanks. My belief for God's criteria for the heavenbound? The way to get to heaven, Jesus tells us how to get to heaven with his sermon on the mount. Notice it doesn't say anywhere "believe in me". Those are critera for believers and nonbelievers alike. In order to get everlasting life, you must believe in him. Heaven and everlasting life are two different things. Heaven will pass away as Jesus said. As is written in the original Greek, when Jesus returns that ends this age, not the world. A new age will begin and those who have yet to make a choice will have to make it at the end of the millennial age. It is also written that "fire" will test everyone's work, even Christians. Will they offer gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or stubble? Those who offer good works will receiver greater rewards both in heaven and everlasting life.
