the governments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush's plan is to start democratic bookends to Iran's volumes of tyranny in both Afghanistan and Iraq. His plan is to let the people of Iran see how their "new" neighbors are living with freedom and start to want that for themselves.

Once the Dems get the U.S. troops to fold their tents and leave Iraq, then Afghanistan will fall like a house-of-cards, or sand castle, and the Dems will get to blame Bush, neo-cons, et al on the death and destruction in BOTH Iraq and Afghanistan all in time for the '08 elections.

Your comment makes a sound and solid point. And it focuses directly to their actions lately. They ARE trying to bring defeat in our war on both fronts. Thomas has been steady on the point that if the GOP gives in and lets them pull the troops from Iraq, three things will occur:

--Our enemy will be emboldened to the point where they will strike us directly again.

--It sends the wrong message to the world that America is no longer the powerful democracy it once was, and can't stand up to the enemies of civilization.

--It will not end with a simple withdrawal from Iraq. It will extend to Afghanistan.

The Murtha plan sets the stage for this which is why it's INTEGRAL for the GOP to end this farce in the House before it goes any further.
