The Turning Of The Page For The Maverick

Powerful Reminder

of what it meant to be a POW...There is more to any of us than what we see at first glance, and this is an important piece of who McCain is. Undoubtedly he remembers this every time he votes to send our troops into harms way

wil/it really makes me sick

that jimmy carter said mccain was "milking" his story. i mean, is obama "milking" his?

yeeech... right, it's just so irrelevant? you are completely right, it is relevant. and even if it WERE completely irrelevant, what a really mean thing to say.

news flash! MSNBC finds in a recent poll that women who vote for a mccain-palin ticket aren't really women. (those polled=MSNBC anchors)...

True Heroism

You have a gift for bringing emotion to the surface -- What an inspiring blog -- John McCain is a true American hero and a Maverick -- Thank you for reminding the rest of us --

Jimmy on McCain

You know, Carter served in the Navy for 7 years (resigning when his father died) as a Sub officer. He served admirably, and I respect him for it. But like I did, he served in peacetime, he never faced hostile fire, and he has no right to disrespect the sacrifice of McCain who sacrificed so much for this country.

The more Carter speaks, the less I respect him, and I think most people feel the same. If he stuck to the good work he did with vaccinating in the third world and habitat for humanity, he might still be respectable despite his failed Presidency. But the man can't shut up. He is one to talk about exploiting his experience .... since Camp David, despite the extreme illogical stances he takes on the Middle East, he is seen as an expert by the left.

Speaking of Women voting McCain

My mom told me on my blog that my grandma, who has voted Democrat down the line in every election since 1944 is one of those Hillary supporters who is switching. She is voting McCain in part because she thought Obamas speech contradicted itself, in part because she thought he disrespected Hillary, and in part because she likes the Palin pick.....if an 84 year old lifelong Democrat can switch, there may be hope.

dawndawn, thank you!!

that's super nice of you, but i don't know as much about this guy as i should. i've read one of obama's books, and have the other one, but haven't had time to read that one. did you know mccain has written some books? i think "faith of my fathers" is the most famous one, and i'm hoping to get hold of a copy of that on alibris. the reason i read obama's book is that it was SO well-publicized, i was like, that's very interesting, to read a book actually by the candidate. I NEVER EVEN KNEW MCCAIN HAD WRITTEN A BOOK. i never heard it ANYWHERE via our thorough and balanced press. the way they've treated this guy is shameful. come to think of it, hillary's books, also, were not given the hype obama's were. but at least i knew at least one existed. just a disgrace.

wil

i can't believe he actually said that. i still can't believe it. you know, he's said mean things before, though. he's sort of like the joe biden of ex-presidents, i think. i never knew he (carter) was in the navy. i agree w/you, that's admirable, peacetime or not.

my goodness, did you see the CNN poll showing a tie in the polls again? that's not a terribly reliable poll, but still... we'll have to check out gallup and rasmussen tomorrow, see if there's some veracity...

too many of Americans are intellectually

LAZY. And I don't mean George W. Bush. I mean the kool aid drinking reality tv watching sound bite absorbing lack of critical thinking using dumbed down moderate middle independents. The Extremists on Right and Left demand Ideological purity, but even those on the Right would have to dismiss Reagan (their idol) by their own modern standards. Politics is compromise to get some of what you want. What do we want, I'm asking?

oh, davecatbone, i can't resist!

WHAT DO WE WANT?

MCPAIN!

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

IN NOVEMBER! FOR THE DEMS!!

(laughing/sorry, seriously)

well, i mean, i would think that people have all different reasons for backing a ticket. personally, i think the dems have taken the "help the poor" thing, something that makes them sound like a boy scout troop, and strapped all kinds of insanity onto it, making many amongst the ranks of the poor suffer more than any evil republican ever could...

i think john mccain is a really, really fine human being. we'd be very lucky to have him as our president.
