Proof of God

Hi Dullhammer

I am truly astonished that you can still be bothered debating in Prager's column. Well done! Personally, I have washed my hands of this particular debating thread.

You see, I'm not even trying to convert atheists to Christianity. That's not my mission. I have made friends with many atheists and I don't have any particular problems with them.

My mission:

I'm on a mission to convert materialists into human beings.

I find it deeply offensive that there are people out there who genuinely, GENUINELY, believe that humanity is nothing more than an emergent property of matter.

There are people out there who would believe that you and I are genetic robots, and that consciousness is an accident.

I was ridiculed on the forum for stating that materialists do not believe in the self, yet that is exactly the perspective that Susan Blackmore takes. She thinks that this makes her some kind of post-modern Buddhist.

This is not just an academic debate, I have seen the results of such a worldview, how it has created cold, callous and arrogant human beings.

Anyway, given the debates that you have had with certain notorious members of the forum, and given the quote from CS Lewis above, I thought you might respond favourably to my comment.

Who knows, I might even have written my next blog posting ...

Greg England-- Hi too

Sorry it's taken me a long time to reply. I had to get out and deal with some real life at just about the time your post notice came through on my email. Anyway. Good to hear from you.

That’s an interesting mission statement you have there. Reminds me of AA’s mission to simply bring people out of perpetual drunkenness and back into sobriety— a normal place often overlooked by most people. But when it’s missing it leaves a very, very large hole.

I very much liked your blog postings. You are a thoughtful and good writer.

I would like to write more but it’s getting late and I want to at least get something back to you. I’ll post this on my blog and on yours somewhere as well. And maybe write again some time.
