Comment on: Good For The Country

Gun Sales Are Up . . Americans Are Starting To Get It.

2nd works for every one.

I believe in the right of defense against illegal actions of the government or by private individuals and groups. The beauty of the 2nd is that the criminally minded do not know what is behind the door of the citizens home. Meaning that even those who do not possess a weapon benefit by those who do. That is why every time a criminal invades a home and is killed, the defender is eventually free. It is a deterrent. Now the problem is that it has become all about guns. Defense is possible without guns. The writer also somehow sees the need to make this a problem that Mr.Obama has caused or will make worse. Please recall that many of our rights of privacy have been diminished during the Bush years accomplished by increasing Presidential powers over citizen rights. Hoorah for the Patriot Act. If you dint like it, then you must not be a patriot. Classic Propaganda. So lets get back to where a solution may be found. Security is every ones concern. We have groups called lobbyists who will call on the next President and Congressman soon to make plain the citizen's expectations of that important freedom, the right to, or not to, bear arms and how it relates to the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Spasmodic, partisen, domogogic ranting will not help.

Defense is not always possible without lethal force. Often, too often, less-than-lethal doesn't stop the individuals who would ruin your life if you're even left alive, or loved ones. No witnesses is on the increase. Others may have a lower theshhold for what they can tolerate in suffering unrighteous ruination. It's not a cost of doing business.

Community safety isn't going to be found in curtailing rights, it's going to be in exercise of rights. Understand that the armed citizen is more than a quaint right, it is an enduring safeguard. It isn't the good guys committing the violence, it the good guys stopping it. In the absence of first responders, they do it more than 2.5 million times a year.

It's not demagoguery, it's survival.

Otherwise, you might as well turn to your significant other and say that you cannot be counted on to defend her. Isn't that the very first responsibility of gun ownership, that we rise to the occasion to protect self and loved ones?
