Reality vs. Denial

Let's Roll!

Never forget.

Never forget those s.o.b.s dancing in the streets either...

JimmyCarter

You are uncanny I swear! It's as if you got here before I posted. LOL!

That's right. Let's not forget Beamer's call to arms, "Let's roll!"

Pep

Your right. Though I can never forget, nor forgive or turn away from the facts. It's hard for me to understand how any American. Can defend these Islamic murders. And Like Jimmy says. That image of those s.o.b's dancing in the streets is etched in my brain!

FACES OF THE PUREST EVIL

Peppermint, thank you for this unforgettable post, and thank you for bringing to the fore the evil represented in the pictures.

As I said in another comment somewhere, I believe the would-be-murder-bombers in Glasgow were screaming "Allah" rather than "Allah akbar" because they wanted to be rescued from the pain and the hell they had created for themselves.

Also, I am quite sure it was not Allah who dragged their putrid, burning bodies out of their mess. Rather, it was God Almighty, working through brave Scotsmen, who rescued them from the fires of hell itself. May they live long enough to understand it.

In the lineup of the world's most unwanted, there is one whose visage arouses such nausea and revulsion that I cannot look at him. When this vile visage appears on TV, I turn away lest I lose my lunch. It does not require much imagination to pick him out of the lineup.

We do tend to forget. The actions taken by those spawn of satan himself on September 11, 2001 were so incredible that even now it's difficult to believe it happened. But we know they are plotting, stirring their evil brew so that again they may cause death and devastation to the innocent (guilty only of being American or, perhaps, Israeli), on as large or larger a scale as happened on 9/11/01.

Please, let us never forget. And, yes, Jimmy Carter, "Let's roll!"

One day they will make us completely, solidly angry. Then it is they who will never forget -- at least, those who might still be around will not be able to forget.

Yo Pepp

Dear lady this post has got to be one of your finer efforts. Thank you for the jolt. I remember all too vividly our dear countrymen (women included) jumping from the WTC to escape from being incinerated. I remember watching our brave firefighters, police officers, and other emergency personnel running TO the scene while the terrified citizens tried to escape with their lives. Every scene in your post is etched forever in my mind
I will NEVER forget as long as the Good Lord gives me breath.
God Bless you

Goshawk

I do not forget either. I awoke that day, turned on the news, just in time to see the reports of a plane hitting the tower. Next, I watched as the next plane was filmed bearing down on the next tower with John Scott, on Fox, saying, "this is no accident folks".

His words are imprinted on my mind forever because it was then in shock and horror the realization came that we had been attacked.

Those images of the those people "dancing" in the streets are forever etched in my mind too.

No, I will never forget.

Frigglesnitz

Thank you for your comments. You write so eloquently of that day.

I know to whose image you refer because I, too, have the exact same reaction. I cannot look at him for he repulses me also. The rage I feel when I see his face and the nausea come at me like the putrid smell of death. But, then that is what he represents, the smell of death and destruction. He is nothing. He is not a man. He is not human, but sub human. He is nothing more than a murderous sociopath who believes he is some god. To me he is less than the dirt under my shoes.

WilliBeax

Thanks for your comments. It is a jolt to look at these pictures again and recall that day and how we felt.

Of course, no one wants to live within that moment every waking hour of one's life. But, I felt like it was way past due for a shock back to reality.

I recall walking around in a daze for weeks, crying every time I watched another fireman being brought up out of that debris hell and the faces of grief. How can anyone forget all that pain and believe we are no longer vulnerable. Our borders are wide open, people come in here on visas and still overstay their visits, disappearing into the population. And, some of us still believe it could not happen again?

We have to know and remember with clarity what happened and could happen again, but we don't know when or how.

Amen Pep

It's not a question of if we will be hit again, it's a question of when. And if we forget these memories, they will come back all the harder when that day comes. I too will never forget the jubilation in the Muslim world on that day; the dancing in the streets by these savages. Thanks for keeping it on the front burner, Pep.

Scottie

Like you, I believe it is "when" not if. I hope and pray that the plotters of their sinister evil will at least fail to completely hit their target and not cause as much death and destruction as they want.

Peppermint

Thanks for your kind words. I always enjoy reading your entries and would comment oftener, although I am too often constrained by the trappings of living. You have a well-deserved following.

I knew you would know the entity to whom I referred in my earlier comment. Only one out of that repugnant bunch can inspire such revulsion. And, yes, you're right: he is not a man. He is not worth spit.

With more time I could tell you how I realllly feel.

Frigglesnitz

You're too kind.

Yeah, if I had more time I'd elaborate on my revulsion too. Actually, I could write a whole article on that.

I almost didn't want to put that poster up with the "revolting" one on there, but then is to blame for this. I hope Allah has a suitable place for him when he dies.

Pepp

too many have been lulled back to sleep by the safety provided by skilled professionals, both military and police who keep the sheep safe. I too think it will be when not if the next attack will occur. competent or lucky either way they want to hurt us and our way of life.

ch47jockey

Thanks for coming by. I know you don't have much time lately. Hope all is going well for you.

Yes, we have been lulled into a false sense of security and the constant denials of it. Not to mention that there are some pols running for office who don't even refer to it, as if it doesn't exist.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

Peppermint

Spot on. I think that so many seem to have forgotten or live in denial because the feelings that arise are so foreign to the way Americans see themselves, that ignoring/denying it helps them feel better about themselves-"those terrorists are people too so how different from us can they be?" The answer to that is in the pictures of them dancing in celebration.

Yo Pepp, Miss Gimp

Pepp: I've sent this post to some of my friends. Do you happen to have any pictures of the Muzzies dancing in the streets? I remember seeing Yassa' doing his thing.
Miss Gimp: Americans seem to afflicted with "feel good itis". Will we ever learn?

Good post; no, GREAT POST

I often wonder why it is that we so seldom see photos of that awful day.

You would think that someone would have the good sense to publish them again and again, if only to remind the more vacuous among us why we fight.

I do recall the immediate reactions in the aftermath of 9/11, and couldn't have been prouder of my fellow Americans.

I remember enormous anger from everyone; not Republicans, Democrats, Independents--everyone was pissed off and ready to kick a** and take names.

What happened? Why didn't we take advantage of that tremendous momentum?

These are rhetorical questions; I know what happened.

Thanks, Pep, for a great reminder.

Unfortunately

Great essay, Pepp.

Unfortunately, until the politicians get serious about this, by accepting that we're in an existential conflict of ideologies and philosophies that is religion-based, and stop catering to Islamic "sensibilities" and "sensitivities", we're not going to effectively attack the real problem.

That is going to leave us vulnerable to further attacks for the forseeable future, IMO.

It's one thing for the government to sponsor discrimination. That's bad, no doubt. But it's an entirely different thing, also bad, for the government to refuse to acknowledge discrimination targeted against us. That's what these jihadist actions are, and we still have our heads in the sand, along with the rest of the Western world except Israel.

Beyond words

Thanks Pepp for a reminder of the deadly struggle the Western world finds itself in, even though few on our side are kicking in on the cost of the fight. The most repulsive aspect of the conflict isn't the Islamist animals and their ideology, but the Quislings in our midst who can't wait to sell-out the West. Especially those that want to resolve this mortal clash only through diplomacy!

purplegimp

Terrorists, people? Yes, there are a lot of people who think these terrorists are just like us, but they aren't.

I have a friend who always asks after some heinous murder gets committed and the murderer is arrested, "how could someone do that?" I tell her the same thing over and over, "you cannot understand this because these types of people don't think like we do". I tell her to stop trying to understand them, you can't. They are sociopaths. They have no conscience.

That's exactly how I view these jihadists, they have no consciences. If they did they wouldn't allow their own children to blow themselves up or put them in harms' way to they can keep us from killing them.

WilliBeax

I did a little searching for those pics of Arabs dancing in the streets, but it seems that the pics may have been taken at an earlier time, then posted later to make it look like they had done that. No one knows for sure.

Paulie

Thanks. You bring up a good point how everyone was ready to kick butt after those attacks. During that time it was almost impossible to imagine that we could get into the state we are in now, so divided, so uncaring, so apathetic, as if it never even happened. It boggles my mind actually.

Psalm23 and expressit

Those in our midst willing to sell us out. Oh, so true and such a good point. Makes the head spin.

xpressit, a man of few words today I see. You are not usually so quiet and succinct.

I DO remember...

...them dancing in the streets.

Watching television during the evening of 9/11, they were playing them dancing in the streets to news of it on their radios, they were translating it for Us Here. I haven't seen those images since, and I don't think We ever will.

JimmyCarter

Yeah, I remember seeing it too. Now, though when I do a search I can't find a single pic. They've been erased, beamed up to Scottie, like something out of Twilight Zone.

Three days I will never forget

The JFK assassination on 11/22/63, the first moon landing on 7/9/69 and 9/11/01. Each marked a day where the world changed forever in a big way.

Yo Brian

Excellent comment as usual. Have you ever considered coming out of retirement and returning to your acting career?
I’d like to see Hollywood do another remake of Ivanhoe. I’d like to see you audition for the role of Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert. If I remember correctly the movie came out in 1952 with George Sanders playing the part. I always admired him. Wasn’t he married to Zsa Zsa Gabor? Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, George took his own life. What a waste of talent!! In the 1982 TV remake, I believe Sam Neill played Sir Brian. I can see the theater marquee now!! Ivanhoe starring Brian R as Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert!! What do you think Brian?? Are you up to the challenge of playing the role of a villain?
Ole Willi Beaux would really have something to brag about. Just think, I knew Brian R when he blogged on Town Hall.
How about it you other TH bloggers. Would Brian be a good Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert?
One vet to another.

Pepp

Succinct? Not really. "A picture is worth …." and you have a few here:)

I still have them pix

right up here in the old noodle. And they will be there 'till I die. I'm never going to forget that, EVER.

PPhil

Right on! I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing on all three occasions you stated. Yeah, you are right, the world changed on each of those occasions in a big way.

On the day of JFK's assassination I was home sick from school so I unfortunately got to watch that minute by minute.

I was home during 9/11 and saw every minute of that before my eyes.

For that moon landing I was waiting for my own landing 9 mos. pregnant hoping to God that baby would get there soon or I'd bust. LOL

WilliBeax

LOL! That's too funny. Brian playing the role of a villain. Not sweet ole Brian.

Scottie

Yeah, I know I could never get those pics out of my mind either. I was reading on the internet that they were faked to make us mad at the Arabs. Right! We know they just "love" us.

Calling Brad

Brad, where are you? Haven't heard from you. I expected you to be making some kind of comment on here. Helloooooooooooooooooooooo.............

LOL, Willi!

One vet to another, I have certainly now reached the age where playing the Sanders part would be more appropriate than the young lead in "Ivanhoe".

It always cracks me up when you see these old geezers of the truly young age of 30+ playing Hamlet, who's supposed to be about 19.

Even Olivier's "Hamlet", as well as Mel Gibson's, suffered because of the obvious age of their leading men.

He's a guy going through teen angst, and no one seems to ever get that!

Ah, well, thanks for the kind words, Willi.

Now, Lear, of course, is a different subject. And I have actually done a Macbeth.

BTW, I almost forgot

I just posted a new essay, "Ruling Your Rights Away", and this is my usual shameless plug.

But it is an interesting, if obscure, topic, with what I think are very large ramifications.

Yo Bloggers

How about it guys and gals? Should our Brian audition for the role of Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert in a remake of Ivanhoe if Hollywood decides to do it?

Yo Beax

I'd like to see Brian do a King Richard III. Seems it would be a good role for him.

Yo Pepp

I agree! That would be a good role also.

Brianleone..

...could do "GodFather XYZLMNOP: The Townhall Family"

Yo Pepp

A further Google search revealed that Richard the Lion Hearted was the English King in Ivanhoe.

Peppermint

Extremely well put together....

Winston Churchill said,

"Men stumble over the truth from time to time, but most pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened."

Since someone has been doing a pretty good job keeping anything else of the 9/11 scale from happening, I'm afraid too many Americans have picked "themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened."

We can't be reminded too often as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the post.

The Democrats

scream bloody murder every time any media outlet shows these pics. They don't want us to be reminded that they're wrong about everything that has to do with national security.

Yo Brian

Is Mel Gibson, by any chance, among your circle of friends? Since he made "Braveheart" and "The Patriot", I bet he might be willing to do a remake of "Ivanhoe". Do you think that's a possibility?

LOL, Willi

If Gibson were among my circle of friends, you'd be reading interviews of me in People magazine, not my comments here on this website.

I remember

I was living in a grey rent house. My daughter was 2, and I was getting ready to go to work. I was getting her dressed to take her to school.

I turned on the TV to put on Grover, but on came the local news channel showing the first tower on fire. They said a plane hit it, and I said, "Honey, I think you should get in here and see this...." Just after that, the second plane hit the tower and I heard "This is no accident."

We still didn't know exactly what was going on, and I listened to the radio as I drove her to school. When I reached the school, the radio reported that a plane, thought to be hijacked, crashed in a field. I remember praying "DEAR GOD. What is happening?" And I was afraid--so I sat in the car with my child and cried.

As I was sitting there, I heard the tremendous noise of jets overhead, coming from the local Barksdale airforce base. I called my husband and asked if I should leave the baby or not. While on the phone, he said quickly, "I gotta go. Bush is landing in Barksdale." (My husband was police captain and they had to get the city security ready for the arrival of the President.) Many of us stood in the parking lot, about 4 miles from Barksdale AFB, and watched as several airforce jets escorted the landing of AirForce One.

I'll never forget that day.

Yo Shining City

Your comments about Barksdale AFB bought back some sad memories for me. I was stationed there in 1955 having been transfered from Lockbourne AFB in Ohio.
My buddy and I were in the Chaplain's office on Memorial Day when the Chaplain's assistant came in and told the Chaplain he was needed at one of the runways. Two RB-47's had just crashed on take off killing all of the crew members. What a sad introduction to my new duty station. I was separated in December of that year, but that memory was seared forever in my brain.
I too vividly remember 9/11 and the horrific events of that day.

I have never forgotten.

And never will. Many have not forgotten, but don't see the danger ahead and are busy fighting other battles that distract from fighting this evil.

Thanks!

anti-socialist

Thanks. I hoped it would bring people back to where our real fight lies. That and the border.

Charles Mudgeon ShiningCity Sandra Wis

Charles, thanks for coming by and welcome to my blog. I don't believe I've seen you here before. Your Churchill quote is another one of my favorites of his. I'm a Churchill fan and his speeches which I find to be inspiring. Too bad we have no one like that today.

ShiningCity, that is quite a poignant story about you being in the car with your baby crying. I felt tears come to my eyes thinking of it because I know the first thing I thought about were my grand kids. At the time, no one knew how many planes these thugs had in the air and how many attacks were going to happen. One of the scariest days of our lives.

Sandra,
No, some of us Never forget. Other do. Shame on all of them.

davecatbone

The demorats are going to get us killed, no doubt in my mind. And, the rhinos joining them, one of which is our lovely senator Baby Voinivich.

JimmyCarter, WBeax, BrianR

Looks like some people are trying very hard to revive Brian's former acting career. I'm sure we can come up with some role that would be good for him to play. I think Brian would do well on one of those soaps on TV, what do you all think? Of course none of them are westerns that I know of. But, maybe they could work in some lonesome dove type cowboy arriving into town and being the old lover of some married woman. They meet up, talk about old times, the husband gets jealous even though nothing is going on, blah, blah, take it from there as the stomach turns...

Yo Brian

Since it appears that Mel Gibson is not among your circle of friends do you know anyone who has connections with Mel who might recommend you for a part in Mel's next picture?
I was really looking forward to you playing the part of Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert in an Ivanhoe remake.
Would you accept an offer to play a gigolo in a soap, or a western featuring a Lonesome Dove former Texas Ranger (Gus McCrae) type of role? Robert Duvall (sp) is one of my favorite actors.
One vet to another

Peppermint

I've lived in Michigan for many decades, but both of my kids were born in Ohio.

I'm a big Ohio State fan - not because I give a rip about the Buckeyes - but it seems to annoy all these blue-staters up here in the Evil Empire.

I'll be by as often as I can. Come see my foolishness if you get a chance.

I Start To Cry Every Time...

I was working in finance in NYC at the time and many of my friends and relatives (including my fiance in L.A.) feared I was in the WTC during the attack. Luckily, I worked a few miles north, although I had interviewed for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 110th floor of the WTC. I knew a really nice guy who worked at Cantor and died that morning. (He was Jewish, too, so the myth of it being a Jewish plot, that all Jews knew to not be there, is obviously wrong.)

So yeah, I was there, saw in person, was horrified like in a nightmare. But I'm sure it was just as awful no matter where in the country you were at the time.

Funny thing, I actually DID get one good piece of news from the NY Times not long before that day. They had a color, multi-page spread on some Osama bin Laden guy, his terrorist training camps, and announcement that he was going to attack the U.S.

So when I saw the second tower get hit and knew this was no accident, I said, "This must be that Osama dude."

Anyway... as you say, this is NOT something to just forget. It's real, the threat is nowhere near being gone. Wake up, Libs!!!

Way back in the day, they

offered me a part on Young and the Restless. "Snapper", whoever he was.

No way in hell was I doing a soap! I'd rather stick knitting needles in my eyes.

BrianR

Oh man!! you coulda been another David Hasselhof...that was who played Snapper!!! LOL...My Gram was hooked on her "stories:...

Weighing in...

Pepp, I have not gotten up a single day since 9/11 and not thought of that Day and the events. Not a single day has gone by when I don't thank God that we live in the land of the free.
I was in the carpool line at my daughter's preschool. When they said a plane hit the WTC and identified it as a commercial airliner, I screamed, "f-ing terrorists!", peeled out of the line to Walmart across the street and then bought anything Red, White and Blue to put in my car, on my car...you name it. It was the worst few days I have ever spent...and I have not, nor will I ever let a chance go by to tell my kids how lucky we are. They have not been sheltered from this at all. They need to know!

BrianR

Not for nothing, but Jack Bauer will be looking for a new sidekick on "24" next season.

Perhaps your comeback can be in a role taking out some terrorists?

Charles

Yeah, it seems to irritate other states who believe they are better than us hicks here in OH if we have anything winning down here.

I recall when the Cinti Bengals won the playoffs to go the Super Bowl. You would have thought San Fran was playing an invisible team the way they spent so little time on our team. After all, how could a hick place like OH have a "good" football team?

Of course the Bengals have slipped down ever since, but dem were de good ole days.

BrianR and Nee

Geesh, Brian, knitting in your eyes would be so painful that surely a role on a soap would have been much better and as Nee said Snapper who was Hasselhof, look at the popularity you would have had and the publicity!

Nee, I had no idea since I don't watch soaps. Thx for the info.

Nee

I'm sure everyone (except the libs) know exactly where they were on 9/11 when we got hit and has it branded into their brain.

Like you, right away I hung my flag out. You couldn't go down any street here in my area where a flag was not flown. It was utterly amazing. Flags on every house. It was a sight to see, the united Americans flying the symbol of freedom.

Even that following Christmas as we drove around looking at Christmas displays on houses we came across a house where a guy had put the outline of the flag on the top of his roof. It was so huge, the display, that I was sure everyone from a plane could see it when looking down. It was a beautiful sight.

Paulie

LOL! It's so funny how many are making suggestions to revive Brian's comeback in the acting arena. What a good idea to have Brian on 24!

SquiddyPopPerkyJean

Yeah, it can bring tears to me also.

I went to the movies to watch some movie and all of a sudden there was a preview, without any warning, of the upcoming movie "United 93". It shocked me and I found myself right back there on 9/11. I started sobbing uncontrollably as I watched the previews. I could not believe my reaction and felt kind of foolish until I realized there were other people in the theater breaking down as I had.

A couple weeks later when the movie was being played I went to see it. It was so well done and I was so riveted by it. It wasn't until the end that I broke down crying as the last scene was of the people on the plane calling their loved ones to say good bye. I sobbed then.

My son's company had 12 consultants in the WTC that day and they all died.

I didn't realize you lived so close by. But, I can assure you that the people of OH were crying with you. Even when I went out for necessary errands clerks in stores would ask what was happening on TV since they had to be away from their TVs while working. People would get so choked up and tears would run down their faces. It was just an amazing time.

Yo Pepp etal

I had to stop watching 24 after the episode with the nuke exploding. It was too darn realistic. If Brian decides to come out of retirement and lands a role as Jack Bauer's new sidekick, I could easily be persuaded to start watching it again.

Peppermint

I followed the Bengals from the time Paul Brown started them. I think they only had two or three arrests a year back in them daze. Now I get to watch a really good team all the time - that would be the Lions - because the NFL thinks I really want to see them every week. Go Bears.

I remember those flags

In October right after 9-11, we went on vacation to Florida (Tampa/St. Petersburg & Disney World). A national newspaper had printed a copy of the American flag as it's cover above-the-fold....it was just a huge American flag.

Everybody cut out the paper and taped it on their windows and in their cars and in their businesses. You couldn't even get a copy of that paper. And businesses had shoe-polished proverbs and prayers on their windows.

What has happened to all that? That same newspaper now is back to trashing America as though we're the Abomination of Desolation. Most have forgotten.

WillBeax

I watched a movie on London getting hit with dirty bombs that showed on HBO a couple of years ago. It was so devastating that I cannot watch 24.

Pepp

You must be very strong. I've been too whimpy to watch the movie about 911. I guess same reason I have never seen Passion of the Christ. I fear they would both un-do me. I'm not really up for that. I suspect I would sob for days.

BTW, thanks for the link. Cool.

Charles

As far as the Bengals go I never really got interested until my ex husband was working with Steve Kreider and I got to meet him and we spent some time together. Steve Kreider teased me about not watching the Bengals and I promised him I would. That's when I got really interested and that was during the time they were doing so well.

Now, I don't even bother with all the arrests and what not going on, I just get turned off by it.

ShiningCity

I didn't want to see United 93. Then I saw one of the family members of one of the victims who spoke so eloquently of the film and how it was a tribute to those who were brave enough to take that plane down in a Penn. field.

Then, I felt like I wanted to pay tribute to those people by seeing the film. I wanted to remember them and what they did. It wasn't that I was strong. LOL

Thanks anyway for that. But, it was not as bad as I thought as the movie follows all the inside goings on while that plane was in the air. It's riveting.
But, at the end, I sobbed like crazy and felt dazed coming out. I did feel sad for days afterward thinking of it, but also you feel the bravery of these people who took those Muslims over and you feel proud to be an American where there are still brave people willing to give their lives to save others.

Pep

I can recall almost to the minute what I was doing, where I was, who I was with and what I was thinking on all three of these days. When the first WTC building collapsed, I turned to one of the new young brokers and told him the world will never be the same. We are now at war and life will never be as we knew it.

ShiningCity

I know what you mean about "being back to trashing" America. It makes me sick. And, it seems to me, that is mostly the liberals. I could be wrong but that is my observance.

I specifically recall liberal MSM talking heads already having us defeated in Afghanistan 2 weeks into the war. The same with Iraq. I could actually pull up the comments if I felt like searching for them. Ann Coulter did a column one time on it.

So, it did not take long for the politics of dirtiness to start so quickly and from there it just kept building.

PPhil

That's uncanny. Because that is exactly what my friend Linda and I said to one another right after the first attacks on the WTC. We cried and sobbed knowing nothing would ever be the same again.

Pep

I also went to bed that night certain that people I talk to every day died in the collapse. Turned out that despite occupying two full floors and part of others, only one or two people in my company died and I didn't know them. That was the miracle of 9/11, less than 3,000 died when as many as 55,000 could have.

PPhil

Right. And, I'm sure the jihadists had hoped to kill the 55,000 and more had that one other plane downed in Penn had made its' target.

I don't think I knew anyone in the towers myself but some others I know did. But, it didn't matter did it?

Peppermint

On a serious note, I lived in New York City a half century ago. Watching on 9/11, all I could think of was, "My God, that's Manhattan Island under all that smoke."

That image won't go away. I don't need to see any of the Hollywood versions.

LOL, "24"

I'm sure they're not looking for some gray-haired guy pushing 60.

The latest Stallone "Rocky" movie proves how pathetically that would work out.

Hasselhof, huh? I could have gone on to "Babewatch"! And public drunken stupors! What a missed opp that is!

For an actor, soaps -- at least back then -- were mind-numbingly uncreative. I had a good job, and wasn't desparate for the money, and to move up from waiting on tables.

Charles

I can understand that. Lots of people don't want to see any movies about 9/11. It's still too fresh for a lot of people.

I will say that United 93 did not appear to be one of the "usual" Hollywood films. It was done very well. Don't misunderstand me though, I'm not trying to get you to see it. One does relive the trauma over again.

This is one...

...roller coaster of a thread....

i did watch

one of those "Path to 911" sort of movies. It wasn't the one that aired on the major networks that resulted in the Clinton's getting all up in arms...it was another one, that also squarely put the blame on Clinton and the CIA. It was very interesting.

Yo Brian

You are selling yourself short. I think you would add some maturity and definitely experience in a supporting role to the 24 set. Go for it if you get the opportunity. It would give me a reason to start watching it again.
One vet to another

JimmyCarter

It sure is a roller coaster going on this thread.
It's interesting all the different remarks going from anger, fear, sadness, plus some humor being provided.

I never know what I'm going to read when I come here.

ShiningCity

There was also some kind of series presented by a channel which I cannot recall right now, but it retraced the experiences of some with some of the actual people who got out of the towers alive and what they went through. That also was very riveting to watch. Just unbelievable tales of people trying to survive and helping one another.

WilliBeax

Maybe Brian could play Jack's older uncle or something like that. I really don't know the characters in it as I have never watched one episode of it. Or maybe, one of Jack's older and more experienced advisors, something of that nature? What do you think?

A couple of you

have commented on [as Scottie put it] "the jubilation in the Muslim world on [9/11]; the dancing in the streets by these savages." Perhaps the absence of photographic evidence is an indication that it never happened, at least not in the way you remember it.

I remember the footage too. I also remember it was the same group of about thirty people looped endlessly on all the channels. Widespread jubilation in the Middle East? Never happened.

I found the following, from the University of Leeds Institute of Communication Studies in the UK;

"The brief footage was typically broadcast cyclically and used as an interview aid, with anchors asking U.S. government officials and others how they felt about the images.

Almost universally on U.S. networks, anchors presented the footage as if it were representative of all Palestinians, additionally failing to note any context to the images.

A number of points must be made, first about the actual footage: There are three million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and West Bank including Jerusalem, one million Palestinians living inside the borders of Israel, and another four million Palestinian refugees living elsewhere in the world, including the United States. The footage in question depicted between 20 and 40 individuals.

The Palestinians in the footage were mostly young children. Most of their behaviour in the footage appeared to be no different from how Palestinian children always behave when foreign journalists turn up in their towns, crowding and smiling at the camera and giving the victory sign that has been a symbol of Palestinian steadfastness under Israeli military occupation since the first Intifada in 1987. There is not a single reporter with any experience of carrying a camera into the Palestinian West Bank under any circumstance who couldn't get similar footage on any day they visited the occupied territories.

Where genuine rejoicing at the attacks was indeed apparent in the footage, anchors interpreting the footage made no effort to offer any context or background to the images, nor any attempt to separate those Palestinians portrayed from Palestinians as a whole."

I don't think there's any credible evidence of widespread rejoicing in the Middle East. Those of you who remember otherwise are mistaken.

For those

of you interested in getting to the bottom of this (and with the usual caveats noted), here's what Wikipedia says about the incident:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrations_of_the_September_11,_2001_attacks

there are some good links at the bottom of the page.

They aalso point out that about 3,000 people were reported celebrating in the streets of Nablus.

I thought I saw something

from Bradford.

But I was mistaken.

My bad.

Brad

When I researched this on the Internet I came up with something similar as to what you wrote in your first comment. But, I don't rely on anything in the wikipedia as almost can add, change, edit that.

There is no proof, at least in pictures that the Palestinians were rejoicing after 9/11. What the films were that were being shown on the MSM is a mystery in that no one can authenticate it. At least that is from what I read on my research.

However, having said that, we know, without a doubt, that the people who attacked us, and their followers no doubt "rejoiced". Why attack us and kill over 3000 of us if not to rejoice that their operation was a success to some degree. They didn't manage to kill the 55000 that they no doubt hoped for, but did kill many and damaged a lot. They did not bring down our economy as they wished either.

But, they had us down for a short period of time. Tapes of bin Laden were shown laughing and I am sure many other Muslims who believe him to be their guru were laughing and rejoicing also.

Pepp

IYO, why--if there's no proof--do people persist in believing it

Yo Pepp Brian

Pepp! That's a great idea.
Brian! What do you think? Would you be willing to come out of retirement if the right role were offered to you commensurate with the appropriate monetary consideration?
Come on Brian. One vet to another. Make my day.

Yo Pepp etal

A little off the subject but this may be good for a chuckle:

MOONBAT SIGHTING: We had to have the garage door
repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our
problems was that we did not have a "large" enough
motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said
that we had the largest one Sears made at that time a
1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, "Lady, you
need a 1/4 horsepower." I responded that 1/2 was
larger than 1/4. He said, "NO, it's not." Four is
larger than two." We haven't used Sears repair
since._______________________________________________

Willi, Pepp -- Hahaha!

Actually, now that I've retired from Corporate America, I have been playing around with the idea of giving acting another shot.

And when I look at Fred Thompson's arm candy, I get re-inspired! It was one of the great perks when I was a young, single guy out here in Hollyweird. I was usually one of the few straight guys on the set.

A very target-rich environment!

Willi, vet to vet, you may have something there. I definitely have to consider this.

Whoa Pep!

What a great showing of patriots! Just finished reading all the new comments from where I left off before. Most of them caused a lump in my throat as they stirred the memories of those days.

The above of course does not include Bradford or any Lib stuck in denial. Hey Brad! Pictures!? I don't need no stinking pictures! I like millions around the country saw the news cast of those Islamic monsters dancing in the streets. Not 20 or 30 as you insist. But thousands! The streets were packed as far as the eye could see!
That image and the anger I felt for those animals, and still do. Was burnt into my brain forever! For you to tell me or anyone that we did not see what we saw. That we are "mistaken." Proves what a fool you are! Because you personally didn't see the dancing. In your little Liberal mind. It didn't happen! How stupid can one be!

If Bradford

Really needs pictures, he can go to blackfive and listen to the moonbat Uncle Jimbo interviews on the 4th of July who "knows" it's an inside job. That idiot in the video says it only takes 50 people to create a conspiracy like 9/11. (Somebody get me a barf bag!)

And Pepp,

Three weeks later, I drove to Connecticut...up 95 to the GW Bridge in NY into CT. Every single overpass had a flag hanging from it and I could still see the smoldering smoke from the collapse. I had to pull over and cry. It was the most humbling thing I have ever seen. a friend who was a photographer did something called a "Ride to Remember" a year later and used Springsteen's "The Rising" to make a video. That is the best CD to hear from someone who was not directly there. Very inspiring...it's why I run the Army ten miler...to DO something to remember the Troops.

Peppermint

So glad you posted these pictures. So many people live in a 9/10 world and don't remember the horror of the day. It could happen again and that's why we must fight them over there, IMO>

I tried to post much earlier, but for some reason I couldn't post. I hope I can this time.

Thanks again.

Tanabear writes;

"Overall, the 'WOT' is a complete fraud. It is only used to impelement the neo-con dream of American hegemony across the world."

A) The attacks before, up to and including 9/11, were not a fraud. They were accomplished by Islamic animals. (yes that is redundancy)

B) You say American hegemony like it is a BAD thing.

Peppermint

I'm pretty sure I asked yuo if it is OK with yuo if I add you to my blog roll. But I don't rememer where I might have done that, so I don't know where to look for an answer.

Don't play down the age thingy too much.

Yo Brian

Way to go Brian!! I’m very pleased to hear that you may consider reentering the acting profession. I see that the possibilities are unlimited for you to become one of America’s new heart throbs if you get the right role. Imagine yourself playing opposite some of Hollywood’s most fabulous “hotie toties”. A target rich environment!! Wow!! Most unattached wannabe Lotharios would kill (figuratively speaking) for that opportunity. Please keep your fellow TH bloggers apprised of your progress. I’m hoping for a 24 supporting role. This would persuade me to start watching it again.
One vet to another

Does this mean

that we can't talk about Brian on "24" anymore?

Because I watched every episode, as preposterous as it became (hey, I was invested) and I can definitely see him running CTU, going out on the mission, using a little hand to hand stuff and generally keeping us entertained.

Sorry, tho, Brian...there's hardly any kissy face.

Earth to Nee

What are you talking about? Do you even read my posts or just react to what you want to believe I'm writing?

Brad

I tried to reply to your question hours ago but couldn't post on my own blog.

Why do people believe it, seeing Arabs dancing in the streets? Because they saw it on their TV screens. Also there was a report back then that Arafat even issued some statement telling people to stop celebrating. Of course that was just his double face show to the world as he was a two faced liar all his life.

WilliBeax

That's a funny one about the repairman. Is that a true story?!

Goshawk

Good comment. Yes, there are many patriots telling their stories on this blog and it is very interesting, inspiring, and brings tears to my eyes depending on what story. I'm so pleased to hear all of these stories and the comments.

I too recall thousands dancing in the streets. It was shown on TV many times. You can't find anything on the Internet which is very interesting to say the least. The terrorists must have more pull than I ever thought to get all pictures removed from the Internet, or perhaps it never was on the internet.
But, I sure do recall seeing them and thinking what a bunch of sub humans to be rejoicing at such an atrocity.

tannabear

Thanks for coming by but I really don't know what to say to you. I know you believe 9/11 was a conspiracy so there is really notta I can reply to that.

Nee

That's one heck of a story about being in Conn and see the smoke that far away. What an eerie picture that conjures up! You go girl! You keep fighting the bad guys.

neff, Charles

neff, thanks for stopping by and remembering with us who are here. I agree that is why we are fighting them over there! Keep em over there. We don't need another fight here.

Charles,
You are welcome to put me on your blog roll. I would be very honored. Uh, I didn't ask you, I just put you on mine since I liked your blog. Thanks. And, remember, age is an illusion, it's all in one's head, albeit, a wiser head. :-)

Psalm23

Thanks for taking on tannabear. I don't have the stomach for it myself.

Yo Pepp, Brian

Pepp!! Yes!! That is a true story.
Brian! Pardon my ignorance, but what is meant by "Fred Thompson's arm candy"? Is dat Hollywood jargon?

Peppermint

I think I got it: maybe they were really upset if they thought the kosher kids did it -- if that makes any sense. (its not suppose to)

xpressit

It makes about as much sense as anything else in this world we live in today. LOL

Pepp & Bradford

I remember the film of people dancing in the streets. It was early after the attack.
I remember because I was rounding in the hospital, and the only way my ward team could get news was on patients' TVs. So, as we went from room to room, we turned their TV onto FOX and one person on the team was designated to watch while the rest of us talked to the patient and examined them. (I know, sounds heinous, but....). Anyway, we were in a little old lady's room, and she already had the news on. As we watched a bit of it with her, they showed the film of the people dancing, and I dropped my patient list & clipboard on the floor. The old lady shouted an obscenity at the TV. And it took about 15 minutes of talking it out to get my ward team back on focus. I don't care what you say. I saw it.

ShiningCity

Yeah, everyone saw "it", so I guess the only person who didn't was Brad and he insists we're making it up. Now, that makes sense right?

A hundred people could tell him they saw it, but he tells them they are mistaken, he is the "authority" on this issue. What he says is the "correct" viewpoint.

Awfully convoluted if you ask me.

Yo Pepp

Another true story to tickle your funny bone.

MOONBAT SIGHTING: I live in a semi rural area. We
recently had a new neighbor call the local township
administrative office to request the removal of the
DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: "Too many
deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think
this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore."
From Kingman, KS.
____________________________________________________

Willi, LOL

"Arm candy" means a younger woman on the arm of an older guy; I was referring to Thompson's wife.

She's quite babe-alicious.

guess not

Pepp: "Yeah, everyone saw "it", so I guess the only person who didn't was Brad and he insists we're making it up."

Brad (down thread) "I remember the footage too."

Try reading my posts.

Shining City

"I remember the film of people dancing in the streets. It was early after the attack."

yeah, I saw that too. Too bad it was the same 40 people looped endlessly. Amazing how willing we are to believe the evil MSM when it suits our preconceptions.

Peppermint

A little off the major subject, but how about that? The Dems had another debate with a pre-agreement not to criticize each other. Sort of wonder how they'd do on the Iraq issue or WOT.
I guess Puffball didn't even negotiate those terms. Doesn't that give great encouragement for Dems?
=======

Willi: You are kidding me, right? Maybe they should replace it with a "caution: Moonbats at work" sign:)

Brad

If you saw the Arabs dancing in the streets like the rest of us what makes you think they weren't? And, what about Arafat telling his people to behave themselves? That was reported too? And, what makes you think they weren't laughing in the streets? Why do you stick up for these monsters all the time?

You know they hate us. I saw you on Squiddy's thread making the same arguments over and over even with her pictures staring you in the face with Muslims preaching death to America. What is your problem regarding these Muslims?

You seem to care more about them than you do your own American citizens.

xpressit

Oh, so the dems are all going to agree with one another and be good little boys and girls. What a laugh. Is that the only thing they can do in their first 100 hours? I guess that means Nancy is done "draining the swamp"? I'm sure Puffball is very happy, but then he never reports anything bad about the dems anyway. No need to tell him not to criticize the dems. Big blowhard that he is.

I hate to be the one to inform them that their "base" is very angry and upset with them because they haven't accomplished what the "base" elected them to do, end the war as yet. I guess that's why Reid is on a rampage now, thinking he won't get re-elected if he doesn't get Bush's war done and over.

Willi

That's another funny story. I'm glad our local gubmint officials have the IQ of morons. It makes me feel so utterly safe.

I wish all those signs we don't need would be taken down as not to distract you from driving. Like, "Caution, bump in road". So, you look for the bump and it's a tiny thing you wouldn't have even noticed except for that dumb sign. Or all those arrows as you go around a bend, by the time you get done going around the bends with all those arrows you don't know where the heck you are. And, "caution" school bus but you never see one as you're watching cautiously for one. These signs just distract you while you're driving and while you're looking at all the signs you're likely to run over somebody.

xpressit

I saw Michael Moore on CNN literally spitting about the dims letting their base down. He was also quite angry with CNN and Wolf Blitzer. His face and eyes were even scary with his rage at them for not liking his stupid movie "Sicko". Vain, narcissistic man thinking his liberal media cut his throat now doubt.

days to remember

Let's see...

The moon landing. I was watching it on the only TV in our house, which was in my parents' room. What an inspiring moment! I was barely old enough to understand the importance of the event.

January 1972. The whole neighborhood was gathered at Dr Brian's house, 'cause they had the biggest color TV in the neighborhood. Cowboys 24 Dolphins 3. The Boys finally win a championship!

My 16th birthday. That afternoon, we were in World History 2 (Fr. Mark Major was the teacher who had zero control over us that day) when we noticed our Algebra 2 teacher (Mr. O'Brian) pacing outside our door. When the buzzer went off, he walked in and demanded attention. We usually were out of control for him, but something about his voice caught our attention. He told us that President Reagan had just been shot, along with one of his aides.

September 11th. I was at my desk in the Quality Assurance office at Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Ft Worth, when the QA Chief, Gunnery Sergeant Batastini said "Hmmm. There's reports that a plane just hit the World Trade Center!" We all thought it was probably a small plane in foggy weather or something. A couple of minutes later he said, "Hey, here's video of the crash!..............HOLY SH!T! That's a SECOND PLANE!" All our heads whipped around at that. I'm not sure who said it first, but within seconds we were sure that Islam had attacked us again, but in spectacular fashion this time. There was a small TV in the publications office and we found a couople of extension cords to get the TV out to the loading dock (the only place we could get reception). For the rest of the morning, every shop in the building had a couple of people out there in shifts, so they could bring back info to the shops. I had to go deliver some reports to the base safety office, and while I was returning to AIMD, I heard the report of the first tower falling. I stopped along the road and cried like a little kid. Around the time that the second tower fell, the base was ordered closed, with the exception of alert crews and launch crews for the 3 fighter squadrons (1 Navy, 1 USMC, 1 TX Air Guard). I remember seeing the reports of street dancing in Palestinian areas, along with muslim areas of Britain and other places.

For some reason

I think it is nice, in a terrible way, to read what people were doing. I guess it keeps things alive....or brings me to reality.

Crawfish, thanks for posting that.

Yo Pepp etal

Another demerit for Taaaaaco Bell.

MOONBATS IN FOOD SERVICE: My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for "minimal lettuce." He said he was sorry, but they only had iceburg lettuce. He was a Chef? Yep...From Kansas City!

Bradford

You're saying that the media purposefully made it look as though all of Arabia was gleeful about 9-11 by running the same footage of people dancing in a short loop?

And nobody realized it was the same footage over and over except you?

Crawfish

Thanks for a great post. You sure made things come to life with your narration.

I remember sitting on my patio with my neighbor next door several days after the attack. The September weather was spectacular, blue skies, cool breeze, birds chirping away.

There was no noise. No planes in the air for days and when outside it seemed surreal to not see anything in the sky other than birds and hawks.

My neighbor and I just sat there not speaking. We just petted my dog and stared out into the sky, the trees. We occasionally looked at one another only to see we both were crying. No words were necessary.

ShiningCity

Didn't you know Bradford is a whiz kid? Genius like him figured out what nobody else did. Most likely it was shock he was in and in his head the tape kept going around and around.

WilliBeax

Where are you coming up with these jokes? LOL
Doesn't know lettuce. I once had a clerk ask me what was in a bag I had with broccoli in it. I guess the young man never saw or ate broccoli ever so didn't recognize it.

ShiningCity

I like reading people's stories too of where they were that day, how they found out, how they reacted. Somehow it seems comforting.

Willi Beax

Re: Fox report... Yep it's just a matter of time before the terrorist hit us hard from the inside. With Bush leaving our borders wide open and refusing to enforce our immigration laws. It's like inviting the terrorist to an open house party!

Yo Pepp etal

A little off the subject but Colorado may have the answer to the Lib's constant whining "the illegal aliens are the only ones who will do the work that Americans won't do". Check out this Fox link:

http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Mar07/0,4670,PrisonerFarmers,00.html

Moore score

Pepp, its great to see Moore with his nose so out of joint at everyone. I heard him say people should …'stop watching you'. I thought that exact thing about his so-called documentaries. Sci-fi would be more his style and he looks like a candidate for a spaceship… if it did not take so much extra fuel to carry him. He could do his creating in outer space with his other gods.

Funny, watching him under “attack” as he sees it. How’d you like to see him with road rage?

Peppermint

I could use your support over at my place.

xpressit

LOL! Moore and road rage! I'm sure he'd kill someone with his temper. How dare anyone who got in his way, the almighty Michael Moore who everyone should bow down to. Just looking at him made me nauseous. I almost felt sorry for Wolf Blitzkrieg.

xpressit

OK. I'm waiting for my media player to come up to listen to that link.

xpressit

I just listened to the link. Right on. The terrorists know us better than we know ourselves.
It's only a matter of time. Yeah, as Cal says are we resigned to these attacks and are we going to keep taking this stuff off of the Muslims? Bush going to the mosques! He acts like a stooge with these Islamic radicals. They probably laugh themselves sick after one of his visits.

Pepp

Off with the shoes. Bet those photo-ops play well on al-jihad.

Yeah

I bet they do too. Laughing stock! More Arabs dancing in the streets.

Yo Pepp etal

The continuing saga of moonbats among us:

MOONBAT SIGHTING: I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?"
To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge,
how would I know?" He smiled knowingly and nodded,
"That's why we ask."

Happened in Birmingham, Ala.

Yo Pepp etal

Since this thread has wandered all over the Internet, from Brian resuming his acting career to the posting of silly humor, I'm going to continue to pollute this blog with the following:

7 DEGREES OF BLONDE

FIRST DEGREE
A married couple were asleep when the phone rang
At 2 in the morning.
The very blonde wife picked up the
Phone, listened a moment and said "How should I
Know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up.
The husband said, "Who was that?" The wife answered, "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear."

SECOND DEGREE
Two blondes are walking down the street. One
Notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down
To pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror
And says, "Hmm, this person looks familiar." The
Second blonde says, "Here, let me see!" So the
First blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the mirror and says, "You dummy, it's me!"

THIRD DEGREE
A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on
Her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to
His apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the
Door she finds him in the arms of a redhead.
Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her
Purse to take out the gun, and as she does so,
She is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and
Puts it to her head.
The boyfriend yells, "No, honey, don't do it!!!"
The blonde replies, "Shut up, you're next!"

FOURTH DEGREE
A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of
State capitals. She proudly says, "Go ahead, ask
Me, I know all of them." A friend says, "OK,
what's the capital of Wisconsin ?" The blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy: W."

FIFTH DEGREE
What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told
Her she was pregnant? "Is it mine?"

SIXTH DEGREE
Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA
Freshman, sat in her US government class. The
Professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs.
Wade was about. Bambi pondered the question then
Finally said, "That was the decision George
Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware "

SEVENTH DEGREE
Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to
Find her house ransacked and burglarized. She
Telephoned the police at once and reported the crime.
The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the
Radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was the
First to respond. As the K-9 officer approached
The house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran
out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the
Cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps.
Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, "I
Come home to find all my possessions stolen. I
Call the police for help, and what do they do?
They send me a BLIND policeman."

PS: Pepp!! Please don't get mad at ole Willi. Jist tryin' to liven tings up a bit on dis heah thread.

Powerful Pep...

...thanks for putting these pix up and reminding us. It drives home the reality that we need to elect the right leader in '08.
