consider, Dr. Scott: (1) Iowa is a state and part of the United States of America. (2) The Founders' genius included their concluding that human rights come, not from kings or governments, but are from the Creator and, thus, are unalienable. That includes liberty. (3)The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution proscribes states from abridging unalienable rights, subject only to the narrow "necessary and proper" clause. (4) The numero-uno job of the federal government is protecting and defending liberty. (5) The federal government only has authority and power to act as explicitly enumerated in the Constitution. (6) The Constitution does not contain the word or concept "marriage".

Any two consenting adults have an unalienable right to "marry". It's an exercize of liberty. You don NOT have an unaliable right to be unoffended.

Wonderful Letter Scott! I was just sickened when I hear about the court's ruling. I'm so happy to hear that you aren't letting this go without a fight. I can't believe his response letter!
