They can't get it.
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." From the Wesley Collection: "...a mystery which was hid from ages and generations since the world began." It was utterly hid from the heathen world. They, with all their boasted wisdom, neither found out God, nor the law of God; not in the letter, much less in the spirit of it. "Their foolish hearts were" more and more "darkened;" while "professing themselves wise, they became fools."
That is the condition of the liberal mindset today.
They profess to their elite, better than thou spirtuality, because they have great concern for the poor to equalize the economic conditions so the poor will not suffer under the vast right-wing fundamentalist conspiracy, in order to feed the filthy rich among them. "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer."
Oh that the scales covering their eyes would be removed, but in spite of their stupidness, America still has the greatest government ever, with more opportunities than anywhere in the world for the poor to work their way out of poordom.

Thanks for your comment. I think it is right on the money.
I also think that the Left completely misses the meaning of Jesus's teaching about the poor.
Actually He pitied the rich who had to much material baggage to find spiritual truth, and so by extension He did not pity the poor, or feel them denied, but they were blessed because they could enter the Kingdom of God.
His was not the basis for social programs at all, but a revelation that wealth was an anchor which kept men chained to the material world. Try explaining that to a Leftist!

good piece
I just came across this now. What a piece of "revelation" well described. Particularly the ending comment. Well done. But also the premise that they want to claim it as their own (as they are wonton to do with any issue) reminds me immigration will likely be the "next fit" on the election agenda. Not as we see it, illegally. First they redefine it, just as JD illustrates here excellently.

Well said!
I posted something like this in response to an attack on my blog about anti- religious bigotry. The Leftist mantra is encapsulated in John Lennon's IMAGINE. A modern communist yearning, that's what the song is. No religion, no borders, no posessions, nothing to kill or die for.
Was john lennon pro-life?, what about all his riches? And in the end he lived free in America, Where many had "killed and died for"? The hypocracy of the left is what turns off most clear thinking people. About "Jesus the marxist", Jesus didn't speak for national behaviors, one of the only things he said about government was "give to Caesar what belongs to Ceasar". Jesus Spoke of compassion from one to another not from government.
And remember this ,"The jails are filled with atheists and democrats". Anti-religious bigots don't see the value of religion and how it is the original source of the human values of compassion and respect.
Those who Cause harm and injustice in the name of religion are not even following thier own doctrine. They are succumbing to the human shortcomings of selfishness, which is the "Anti-religion".
about communism: In order to have communism, you can't even have the freedom to choose right or wrong, that's the biggest irony, and that is why the song "Imagine" is always going to be just a sweet little dream for short-sighted liberals. Thanks REDMEAT
