I am not Joe the Plumber

I agree. I don't see myself earning enough to be penalized by Obama's tax plan, but I sure hope my kids are successful enough to have the things they want in life.

As I was explaining to my teenage son, Obama's plan would lead to the government deciding what we need. That's like his dinner situation right now. He depends on us to provide food for him. If he doesn't like what we prepare for dinner, he either eats it anyway or goes hungry.

My wife recently accepted a box of food from FEMA after Hurricane Ike. They did not ask what we wanted. They gave us a box. We had no control over what was in the box. To their credit, I can say that the meals were balanced and nutritious, but there was no choice involved.

By the way, FEMA also gave us ice, which we did not need. Again, they did not ask. The ice ended up melting, and we poured out the water several days later.

FEMA has its place, certainly. But I don't want to live like that permanently. I believe Obama's policies will lead us in that direction.
