We, as conservatives, are not whining. We are, in fact, outraged that the Democrats in the House and Senate would support such a back-handed plan as Jack Murtha proposed. Now that it has been exposed, and the Blue Dog Democrats are turning on him, they are working towards an unconstitutional move to "undeclare" the war. If you know as much about politics as you think you do, then you would know the only course of action the congress can take is to stop funding the war. They cannot undeclare it.
And I would be remiss in not reminding you that it was the GOP base that mobilized against their elected representatives with the NRSC Pledge, initially, and now the Victory Caucus; both of which we do belong to. We are not whining. We are taking a more active role in the GOP's future.
As for Mayor Giuliani, we simply snicker at those who call him a liberal. Yes, he does still hold onto a couple of liberal ideas, but no more than what John McCain holds onto, or what Mitt Romney embraces. As Rudy has said, "You're not going to agree with people 100% of the time." That is a truism. We will not. We do not agree with the president 100% of the time.
Will Rudy have his bumps, should he take the nomination and win? Sure he will, but it does not change the fact that is more conservative than the pundits on the right or left give him credit for, and that goes double for detractors that latch onto the talking point that he is a liberal. He is not, and his record in NYC is the first thing to prove that.
Of course this level of attack on Giuliani is expected, especially after Michael Barone's brilliant piece yestrerday laying out the possible scenario of a Rudy rout against Hillary. You might want to peruse it:
