fair vs flat

Doesn’t the “fair” tax affect rich people just the same as poor. I mean, a low or medium income consumer buys eggs and bread just like the rich. So even with the rebate of the poverty level, a DVD with 23-30% tax on it takes a proportionately larger piece of a lower income person’s money. Yes they can choose whether to buy, but a flat income tax with few to no exemptions charges every one the same percentage regardless of their income. It is not progressive or regressive. Of course if you go to school or have kids or buy a home, it doesn’t reduce your taxable income. Charitable donations will go out the window either way.
