McCainiacs: Making Ronulans Look Good

It is why I will be cutting down my time at TH. I can't help but laugh at all the McCainiacs who swear we'll all be jihadi bait if we don't elect McAmnesty. He's the guy who wants to make citizens of those already here. You simply cannot have national security if you will not defend your own borders or enforce your own laws. John McCain has no intention of doing either.

I hear you. It is frustrating to hear the rhetoric coming from moderate republicans but it is part of struggle for control of the party that has been going on since the days of Goldwater.
Ron Paul had a good message about constitutional government but he zoomed right past conservative and didn't stop until he got to Libertarian.
The public is not all that thrilled by the weak defense posture. McCain is capitalizing on that but is also part of the moderate struggle for the party, hence the division.
The year that I was 30 Jimmy Carter got elected, it is a long struggle my friend. Welcome to the trenches.

Thanks for the comment on my blog
I appreciate that. I used to like TH because it gave me the opportunity to see what the opposing/enemy side is saying and thinking. I think it makes my liberal arguments stronger to know what the rationale of cons viewpoints.
As for the question of equality of opportunity, I agree it is a goal we should try to attain for all For a long time, we saw that African Americans and other minority groups were shut out from the "American Dream". Today, we see examples of our societies changing attitude to affirm the notion that all men are indeed created equal. However, the playing field nor the starting position are not yet equal. We have a long way to go. That is why we disagree on the need for AA in America.
As for racism, I wouldn't lump it in with disliking someone's hair color. That is too simplistic as well as arrogant. My belief is that the legacy of white supremacy/racism has left a profound effect on America and will take a few generations to erase. We must acknowledge its impact and fight together against it.

Part 2
As for prejudice, I have learned not to judge someone based on their outside experience. Someone with grillz and baggy pants could be the most intelligent person you have ever met. I've seen it. Someone with the nicest Armani suit and $400 haircut could be the dumbest person in the world. I've surely seen that.
As for the failures of the free market approach, I believe that government should be their to regulate, not change, things. Govt should protect the rights of the powerless, the minority in our society. That will guarantee freedom not only for the majority, but for the minority as well. That is why legislation such as the CRA, the VRA, ENDA, etc are needed.
As for FUBU, that company has lost a lot of money. Not exactly a "cool" brand anymore. LOL!
Yes, we live in world full of human beings. My grandpa used to say: Apparently God has a sense of humor; he created humans from his a$$. LOL!
I acknowledge our failings, but that is why I love democracy. We, as a group, can work to make things 1% better for ourselves as well as our children. We will never have a utopia, but we don't have to give up and live in Thunderdome either.
Finally, I'm going to delete this ccount on Friday. I'm done with TH. I'll go into detail on my blog later.

Darrel and Ralph
Darrel, Ron Paul is very good on domestic policy Constitutionalism, but he's an idiot on foreign policy in the mold of the 1930s isolationist GOP bluebloods.
Ralph, what? Your 2 part rant has nothing to do with this post. Have you figured out yet that non-whites can be racists, too?

Later this week or weekend, I plan on publishing a BIG post on the platform of the Crawfish Party in 2008. I don't think it will quite line up with the policies and voting history of McLame. It might have to be a two-parter, since I'm going to be putting forth policies/plans/positions on over 22 topics.

Yeah, I'd rather see Dems cause a little damage rather than further taint what we wish the GOP would be. We survived Carter, then came Reagan. Maybe Oprahma or Hitlery as POTUS would be a wake up call to the country.

my crazy political manifesto got posted at The Swamp...in 3 parts. Come on over and tell me where I'm doing good and where I'm completely out to lunch. I'm thinking the Ronulans would agree with some parts of it, the conservatives most of it, and the McCainiacs a little bit of it.

A Call to Arms
Norman, a frequent poster in TH has invited all to participate in a grassroots effort to come up with an alternative to McCain:
My TH blog, The Blogatorium, has a new mission: To serve as a forum for disenchanted conservatives who cannot in good conscience support John McCain, and want to use their vote wisely and effectively in November.
This endeavor is predicated on the following assumptions:
1. That the GOP has abandoned conservatism, and that conservatives are consequently under no moral, ethical, or other obligation to support the so-called "lesser of two evils."
2. That no true conservative would willingly and enthusiastically support John McCain.
3. That the basic tenets of conservatism are accurately reflected in the "three-legs" model (social, fiscal, and national security), and that a true conservative will embrace all three.
4. That conservatives may, however, differ on the application of each "leg," particularly with respect to questions of faith, and should respect each others' right to do so.
5. That with unprecedented turmoil in both major parties, there has never been a better time to galvanize and mobilize conservative support for a viable, third-party candidate.
6. That compromise is often necessary in politics, but that there comes a time when compromise becomes counterproductive and even suicidal.
7. That the GOP, in making an abusive and manipulative “case” for John McCain, is asking conservatives to put party over principle and to help the GOP destroy the conservative movement.
8. That, in consequence of the aforementioned, a forum should exist wherein conservatives may discuss, debate, and compare the various third-party candidates.
9. That conservatives should, as much as possible, throw their support to ONE third-party candidate, en masse, in order to facilitate a strong showing in November, and future election victories.
