California Teachers' Union Donates One Million Dollars to Defeat Normal Marriage

They are part of the larger problem because they protect lousy teachers and funnel money to candidates and measures that increase the size of government. How many of the teachers who are pretty much forced to be members of that union SUPPORT Prop 8, and yet their money is being spent against Prop 8? The CTA should stay out of the Prop 8 fight entirely, and yet here they are fighting Prop 8 - don't tell us that they won't be teaching the idea that there is no difference between an inclusionary union (man-woman) and and exclusionary one.

It's a conflict of interest.

I am a public school teacher and I am embarrassed to say I am a member of the CTA. I almost never support their political views, but feel as if I'm forced to be a member. I happen to be a supporter of Prop. 8, but regardless of my position, I am at a loss to see the point of throwing away $1 million dollars this close to the election. Isn't there anything more important for the CTA to spend its (my) money on? Nobody asked for my opinion. I could give a list as long as my arm of things that would be more beneficial to students.

Unbelievable! I will be withdrawing my membership from the CTA and take my chances with the repercussions.

I echo John's comments! I am so frustrated that CTA is wasting my dues on something clearly unrelated to education. Spend the money to get us a pay raise! Heaven knows we need it.

I don't believe I'm alone and would like to see just how many Teachers
Union Members really agree with this poll they may be very, very surprised
to find out that they "The Teachers Union Elite which gave this $1,250,000 to oppose Prop. 8 have
Now Awoke a Sleeping Giant of Angry Teachers" and will soon arise to
overcome these "Self appointed elite class of union members who spend
the teachers hard earned dollars without there overwhelming approval.

Consider that the CTA now give $1,250,000
in support of Prop 8 to counter balance this over site then have a special vote to
FIRE all of its Union Leaders that have approved this kind of spending
for misrepresentation and take steps to prevent any future fiduciary
irresponsible to its members and stay out of the political arena
forever. Get mad take a stand, make a change, be heard and make a difference.
