Scholarship program addresses Indiana teacher shortage

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship is taking aim at the state’s teacher shortage. The scholarship will provide aspiring teachers with a scholarship of up to $7,500 per school year if they commit to spending five years in Indiana’s classrooms upon graduation.

“Caring, committed and competent teachers in the classroom are the most important factors affecting students’ educational success,” said Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education Teresa Lubbers.
