With No I.D., Bigger Problems than Voting

Left-wing activists have launched a ferocious fight against laws in more than twenty states that require a photo ID in order to vote. Most recently, billionaire William Louis-Dreyfuss took out a full page ad in the New York Times to announce his own million dollar contribution to battle what he calls “racist” voter suppression.

Such hysterical claims ignore research from the Carter Center of Emory University, in a paper signed by former President Carter himself, finding less than 2% of eligible voters who lacked proper ID. Rather than buying ads and funding lawsuits, wouldn’t liberals more wisely invest their resources in helping such people get the identification they need? If you don’t have a photo ID, you can’t cash checks, ride airplanes, or drive cars, and you’ve got far bigger problems than being unable to vote.
