Conservatives Blamed for Political Crimes, but Not Liberals
Jun 12, 2009 01:59 PM EST
With two recent murders, media figures tried to associate the killers with right wing causes. The shootings of an abortion doctor in Wichita and a security guard at the Holocaust Museum were both perpetrated by mentally ill extremists, but that didn’t stop liberal commentators from using the despicable crimes to tar mainstream conservatives.
Meanwhile, the press did nothing to trace the associations of vicious criminals on the left – like the Arkansas recruiting station killer, Abdulhakim Muhammad, who echoed leftist propaganda in justifying his rampage, or Walter and Gwendolyn Myers, who spied for Cuba for thirty years. The most appalling fact about the Myers case, which deserves far more attention than it’s received, is that they made no secret of their left-leaning, anti-American, pro-Castro views, but he still held important and secure jobs at the state department.
