In two decisions during his first week as president, Barack Obama provided disturbing indications of his values and priorities. He ordered the closure of the terrorist prison at Guantanamo, with some hardcore jihadists shipped to their home countries or else making their way through the U.S. court system. At the same time, the new president overturned a Reagan-Bush policy and promised federal dollars for organizations that promote abortion abroad.

In other words, he wants expanded rights for terrorists, but no rights at all for the unborn. He wants to use federal dollars to provide more sympathetic treatment of America-hating jihadists, at the same time he wants taxpayer money for terminating the lives of the altogether guiltless.

The contrast shows an appalling lack of judgment and a refusal to distinguish between the guilty and the innocent.
