Glenn Beck: No Sympathy for Carrie Prejean

Glenn Beck discussed Carrie Prejean's childish temper tantrum from last night's Larry King Live on his radio show this morning. I couldn't agree with him more: her street cred is shot... and there's no way I will be buying her book.

Unlike Jillian and Hengler, I don't think Prejean's being treated unfairly at all. She was a private citizen, but the attacks on her continue because she's keeping herself out there--open to criticism. And then when she is criticized, she complains how unfair or "inappropriate" people are being. I'm with Beck on this one--own up to whatever mistakes you've made in the past; don't try to lie and squirm your way out of them--LEARN from them.

Me- And THAT'S telling other people how to live. If she doesn't want to marry another chick, that's her perogative. She just has to say, "I'm not into that." (But, hey, the rate she's going, is the "threesome film" far behind?)

But if you say that we should base the law on a 3000 year old book that she obviously hasn't read, (Hey, Carrie, where's the part where God is good with you going topless...) then darn it, I think we all need to see how well she's living up to that book... and it's obvious, not very.

The problem with your notion of a symbol is that the symbol is a lie.

You want to describe Hilton in the nastiest terms possible, but the fact is that he's probably endured a lifetime of abuse and bigotry from people like Prejean - loud mouth, ignorant phonies telling you how to live a life based on a book she's never read.

The real Carrie Prejean is someone who has used sex to get her way, probably since she hit puberty. NOW she's going to tell the rest of us how to live our lives while prancing around in a two-piece or going topless?

Maybe you guys need to choose your "symbols" better. My guess, is, that someone who actually lives the humble life you admire would also be too humble to dictate to anyone else...

I don't have a high regard for modeling. But Prejean hasn't held herself out as a saint or a preacher. As far as I know, she's merely professed her beliefs.

If immodesty negates honest religious belief, we should let go of the pretense that we ever elect Christian politicians.

I don't think women are less Christian for wearing a modern bathing suit, as opposed to a 1920's version. Some people's sins are more conspicuous but that doesn't make them necessarily worse.

I'm not sure Carrie has "confessed." From what I have seen so far (and I admit I haven't seen all of her interviews) she has dodged legitimate questions about her Christian witness and has become defensive rather than admit she has been wrong. Saying "I'm a model" or "I am a beauty contestant" as a justification for her immodesty is not confession. She either has not had any teaching concerning Christian modesty in dress or she is unwilling to admit that disrobing publicly is inappropriate. More Bible study and fewer public appearances are in order I believe.

If I'm reading this scenario correctly, I ultimately think Carrie did the right thing. From the dialogue I've heard sounds like her handlers made agreements for Larry not to probe on certain questions (the settlement for example). Larry went ahead anyway. If Larry changed/didn't follow the agreements Carrie's in the right. I would have done the same.

As for Carrie being a spokes person for conservatives: she's been shot at for giving an honest opinion and then chastised for her answer.

She's made some mistakes - but, to her credit, has taken accountability and confessed publically/on national TV. More guts than most liberals/politicians. I give her props for that!

Townhall.com covers current affairs from a conservative perspective. Prejean was reviled for expressing a conservative viewpoint and has been in the news. Liberals are far more concerned with Prejean than conservative and it's appropriate to take notice of the whole affair.

You ask who cares what she thinks - and the answer is Larry King. So it's inaccurate to say it's conservatives being "stupid."

I don't think many of us here hang on every word of Prejean, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it. We can discuss the line between the personal and the political and push back on the hatred from the left.

If she were Islamic, none of this never would have happened. If she were a Buddhist, none of this would have happened. It's open season on Christians in America. Close but no cigar, Prejean is not like Sarah Palin, Palin was a Governor not a Ms America, many of us like Sarah's conservative beliefs, many of us liked that Ms. Prejean spoke her opinions to Perez Hilton's BS question about Phag Marriage, her opinion is ok because that is her opinion, but we don't feel that Ms. Prejean is now our voice because of her opinion on that question. Beauty queens don't make good politicians, good people with good ideas do. We have this radical with no experience in office now, yet libs say Sarah has no experience,BS we don't need a radical like obama running the show with his radical buddies. Lets get someone with experience that is not a left wing radical.

Why are you still caring about this? It was a frikkin' beauty contest!!!!!! These paegents aren't designed to be a serious endeavor - it's a boo.b and bottom festival with a pretty face. It must be kept in mind why Prejean is (in)famous: a wholly innocuous expression of personal belief. She was immediately personally attacked for this. Would it be wise to go hide in a dark corner - as her detractors would hope?

It is 'fair' to treat the revelation of her private sex tape the same as Vanessa Hudgens' pictures were treated. And it is just as fair for Prejean to push back in the same manner!

The problem is that any personal fault or non-adherence to a stereotypical Christian image is used to discredit the honest expression of a conservative or religious view.

I'm not overly concerned if people wish to criticize her mistakes - that is fair. We don't want young girls 'sexting.' Of course it doesn't mean...

I like Ms. Prejean and as such am inclined to cutting her more slack than I would an individual that I'm hostile to.

It seems that she has taken on more than she is able to field at this time in her life. If she wants to promo her book or her life, she needs to be able to fight; as she is going to be assailed.

It should be kept in mind that she was derailed from a 'trajectory' she had pursued as a beauty contestant by a loathsome creature that chose to insert his agenda into a fluff over stuff contest one night.

Ms. Prejean needs to acquire a great deal of sophistication and the ability to stand and speak without resort to the same words and phrases again and again. She can acquire these skills.
