Planned Parenthood Spent Millions Promoting Dems in Election Ads Last Year

Ahead of a vote in the House this week to defund Planned Parenthood, new analysis shows why Democratic lawmakers may, in part, be so beholden to the nation’s largest abortion giant: Planned Parenthood and its affiliates have spent nearly $5 million to promote Democratic lawmakers in election ads in 2014.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Additionally, Planned Parenthood has contributed $679,596 directly to federal candidates, $676,885 of that to Democrats, in 2014.

Planned Parenthood was in the top 10 percent of nearly 200 outside expenditure groups in 2014, and the analysis shows that the abortion giant spent $0 on ads attacking Democratic candidates.

In the 2014 federal elections, a landslide year for Republicans, Planned Parenthood spent nearly $3 million in ads attacking Republican candidates and an additional $1.8 million in ads promoting Democrats.

The Examiner analyzed election data obtained by Open Secrets from the Federal Elections Committee on March 09, 2015.

And in return, of course, Planned Parenthood receives hundreds of millions in taxpayer money.

The legislation the House will be voting on this week would freeze funding for the group for one year while Congress investigates its sales of aborted baby parts, which the Center for Medical Progress has exposed in a series of videos released this summer.

“I am unapologetically pro-life, but Americans of all political persuasions deserve to know that our laws are being followed and that their tax dollars are spent with integrity," Rep. Diane Black, who's sponsoring the bill, said in a statement. "This legislation will ensure that is the case.”
