The world is waiting for alleged Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to recover from injuries sustained during his man hunt. According to Fox News, Dzhokhar is currently in no condition to be interrogated, but is answering questions from investigators through writing. He was not read his Miranda Rights, despite becoming a naturalized citizen on September 11, 2012.
The surviving suspect in the bombings, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, remains in serious condition at a Boston hospital under heavy guard.
Tsarnaev, 19, who was taken into custody on Friday and whose older brother, Tamerlan, was killed in a shootout with police, will be questioned by a special team sent in by the FBI, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told “Fox News Sunday.”
“He’s [Dzhokhar] in no condition to be interrogated at this point in time. He’s progressing, though, and we’re monitoring the situation carefully," Davis said.
Meanwhile, it looks like Dzhokhar may have caused the injury that landed him in the hospital, no the police.
Authorities initially said they couldn't question the terror suspect because of his severe throat wound.
Tsarnaev is believed to have shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger in a failed suicide attempt as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on his backyard hiding place. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply tore through his neck.
Now that Dzhokhar is in custody, the FBI is searching for others connected to him in a 12-man "sleeper cell."
A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.
“They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”
A specialist team of CIA and FBI interrogators was yesterday flown to a Boston hospital to grill wounded Dzhokhar, 19, about the secret group.
