Walter Cronkite, the broadcast giant known as "the most trusted man in America" during the golden age of television news, has died at the age of 92.

For a generation of Americans, the former CBS News anchor became the dominant face, voice and source of information during a chaotic and transformative period in American history, stretching from World War II through the emergence of the Reagan revolution.
