Chicago Tribune calls for Senator Roland Burris to Resign

Politico.com is now reporting that the Chicago Tribune is calling on Illinois Senator Roland Burris to resign.

The Tribune editorial notes:

The benefit of the doubt had already been stretched thin and taut by the time Roland Burris offered his third version of the events leading to his appointment to the U.S. Senate. It finally snapped like a rubber band, popping him on that long Pinocchio nose of his, when he came out with version four.

When former Governor Rod Blagojevich appointed Burris to the Senate seat, many analysts and pundits trusted Burris. However, over the past few days, that trust has quickly eroded as new stories about Burris have come out. Townhall's own Amanda Carpenter reported one story about him on Saturday. Now, there have been increasing calls for a Senate investigation of Burris

Burris is quickly becoming a major headache for the Democratic Party and for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Ironically, it was just a few weeks ago that Burris was blocked from taking his seat in the United States Senate because of the questions surrounding his appointment in the first place...
