The Harkin Grant Program earmark
, humbly named
for and by the Senator who procured it
, sucks money from the federal treasury and puts it in the hands of Iowa
teachers unions
schools. Harkin didn't explain the rationale for why Americans in other states should pay for Iowa school improvement when schools in those other states are suffering.

"Every single Dem, Rep, out. Gone. See ya. Followed by Constitutional Amendment- single issue bills only, applied nationally, no amendments, no add-ons, no special disbursements. Period."
First we need an amendment to guarantee that the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus will not discriminate against any American citizen based on race, religion, or gender.

Coop, thanks for doing the research. Go easy on the poor folks.
"I would just as soon see NO federal involvement in our schools..they are a LOCAL issue and should be dealt with locally."
Right: communities with money have good schools, while poorer urban and rural communities have lousy schools. Keep that status quo! Just keep the big, bad government out of it.

I guess that (R) Thad Cochran of Mississippi's $5,000,000 "theft" of tax payor money in the same bill, for Mississippi schools, is an outrage too

is just another arrogant Progressive TOAD!
Vlad..I would just as soon see NO federal involvement in our schools..they are a LOCAL issue and should be dealt with locally, then maybe we could get back to real education rather than indoctrination..but that wouldn't sit well with you or Harkin's ilk because that would mean
no POWER to mold the minds full of mush into the Progressive anti American exceptionalism mold.
Nor would it keep the kids in the inner city in despair and on the DemonRAT Progressive Plantation.

And Jillian doesn't bother to mention any earmaks that Republicans got for their states' schools.
