My new Townhall.com column urges that the rollback of the EPA's radical grab for unprecedented power over American life via the regulation of carbon dioxide be a priority of the new Congress
. This morning's new New York Times brings an article by John Broder on the same subject, but it focuses on EPA Administrator Jackson's promise of a "measured and moderate" approach.
There is no "compromise" here.
President Obama and his environmental "czar" Carol Browner are supporting an unprecedented power grab by Jackson, a vast reach for control that is not supported by this or the last Congress and which represents a metastasizing of a deeply flawed 5-4 2007 Supreme Court case. "Obama's EPA" should be proof to every voter the president remains a man of the left with an agenda he will pursue via non-legislative means now that the voters have rebuked him via the 2010 elections. incoming Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Fred Upton was on yesterday's radio program and promised that Jackson would be before his committee so often that she'd have her own parking space. This is very good news as the stakes are very high. If EPA wins this battle, we will have a centralized, command-and-control economy and cap-and-trade without any law having been passed to impose such a draconian regime.
