Hugh Hewitt

Ryan Lizza has an account in the new New Yorker account of the cap-and-tax legislative dance from this past spring should be emailed everywhere in the weeks ahead.  It unintentionally conveys all that is wrong with D.C. --the entrenched interests, the lobbying culture, the arrogance of Congressional staff and the general indifference to the real world impact of massive legislative and regulatory schemes.

It is also the longest, most detailed hit piece on Lindsey Graham I have ever read, and I have read a lot of them.  Senator Graham has been a welcome guest on my program in the past and the invitation remains open, but if and when he ever agrees to return we will have to discuss this article in detail.  If even half of it is true --Lizza is a great reporter but some of his sources appear to have been gunning for Graham as payback for the collapse of their statist dreams-- then Senator Graham faces a huge problem in his 2014 South Carolina re-election campaign.  Contrary to what many on the right say, Graham has a very good record on most issues, but this account will be hard for conservatives to forgive and forget, if it is true.
