Speaker of the House, John Boehner, has pulled Plan B legislation from the floor tonight due to lack of support from GOP members. The House wrapped up its business tonight for the last time before Christmas. Boehner could not get the number of votes needed in order to pass the legislation that tries to solve fiscal cliff problems facing the U.S.

Speaker Boehner said in a statement, “The House did not take up the tax measure today because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass. Now it is up to the president to work with Senator Reid on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff. The House has already passed legislation to stop all of the January 1 tax rate increases and replace the sequester with responsible spending cuts that will begin to address our nation's crippling debt. The Senate must now act”.

The plan faced opposition on both sides of the aisle. The plan included some controversial tax rate increases on those making $1 million. Now it all comes down to whether or not the United States will face the fiscal cliff and head right over. With no compromise found yet between the two parties, it seems like there is a good chance that the first of the year will come with no solution to the fiscal cliff.
