Unelectable Wingnut Leads By...15 Points

Shhh. This poll broke over a holiday weekend, so let's just let the DSCC pretend it didn't really happen:
In an election for the open United States Senator seat from Kentucky today, 09/02/10, Republican Rand Paul defeats Democrat Jack Conway, 55% to 40%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for the Louisville Courier-Journal and WHAS-TV.
Ed mentioned the eye-popping lead Paul holds among men (65-31), but note how the rabid/right-wing/risky/tea party Republican candidate fares
among young voters:
[Age
18-34]
Paul (R) 60%
Conway (D) 33%
Wither Obama Zombies?
I'll leave you with this analysis to ponder: Democrats could virtually guarantee
holding the Senate by picking off a seat currently held by the GOP. As the midterm election picture began to take shape, the conventional wisdom informed us that their best opportunities to do so were:
Florida,
Missouri,
Ohio,
New Hampshire,
North Carolina, and
Kentucky (after Paul was nominated). Follow any of those links and you'll start to smell what
Charlie Cook is cooking.
UPDATE:
Ho hum. Another
national poll shows a record lead for Republicans on the generic Congressional ballot among likely voters.
