How is it only your side knows, and our side is driven by Rove. You really need to get out more and take the tin foil off. If your side was on track, why is ben Nelson the laughing stock of Nebraska? Why all the secrecy? Why all the closed doors? Why keep changing the rules after the loss of the super majoriity. Do you feel it slipping away? Mass. did you guys dirty, was that Rove too?
But again, any social concerns of a populace may be only addressed to the degree of the success of the economy, and borrowing money to pay workers that are not working is a losing propisistion. It does not work even in your parallel universe

don't get me wrong - the summit was good for everyone to see. Well, you may be right about that "everyone" part. There those of us, however, that have seen what happens and think that. That happens.
But, I stand on my statement that no one party out did the other in this summit.

"Now, when we see the NYSlimes, WAPO, the GLOBE, MSNBC, other lefty outlets admit this too, we will be in the Milleninum Kingdom."
I surfed CNN, HNL, MSNBC and FOX last evening and watched several commentators speak about yesterday's conference at the White House.
Virtually everyone admitted that the republicans had won the day. There was one fellow on MSNBC I'd never seen before who went into a long fan dance mode, but couldn't work his way out of the hole others had laid before him. CNN had a panel early in the evening, during Wolf Blitzer, of four folks. Three of the four tried to smooth it over somewhat, but all were aware that the democrats had been handed their sterns.

How good the Repubs are learning to regurgitate instructions from Rove-esque coaches.
Lets all sing
"scratch it, start over, gets us some white paper, and go step by step!"
Again, from the top!!

wants to come up with solutions that really put the health insurance industries in a accountable situation because that would mean - we would be shaming our free enterprise system.
Just like the "too big to fail" banks and other industries.
The only thing people seemed to be interested in is arguing the same old points and that is on both sides. No one party as the corner on that one. It might be fun to think so, but it's not true.

but no one won anything yesterday.
Same old, same old. Seen this too many times and the only thing this summit did was to really confirm what most of us already know - more head banging.
No one aced anyone at that summit. You may want to think so, but really everyone was politically
giving show.

Tom Coburn spoke to point of controlling healthcare costs and was right(no pun intended) on the money.
Essentially 1 out of 3 Medicare dollars are wasted!
Wasted on treatments that don't work, often because the treatment has no evidence of effectiveness in the 1st place, and/or was unnecessary.
Secret-shopper patients, another great idea.

Substantive differences:
"scrap the bill"
"statrt over"
"get a white piece of paper"
"Go step by step"
Those aren't policy differences, it's well partisan-in-quicksand rehearsed mantra.

Bravo on a beautifully edited headline for this posting.
Upon listening to the entire clip, however, it's hardly what the GOP might have hoped for.
The best day in years in terms of intellect is obviously a slam on the past eight years of idiot babble.
Great headline! Proof that taken out of context, ANYTHING can sound good!

I believe liberals prefer operating like that: brushing aside substantive policy differences as mere "talking points". I took a class last semester on health care policy and finance. I had more than a few debates about health care reform with some of my peers. Two of them in particular would not engage substantively but would resort to ad hominem attacks, complex questions and other forms of illogic. One of them used the term "conservative talking points" in describing my policy recommendations. When one thinks about it though, simply because a thing is a "talking point" neither validates it nor invalidates it. Rather, my liberal classmate used the term pejoratively so as to avoid addressing the actual merits (or lack thereof) of...

What alternate universe do you live in? Obama and his fellow travelers got handed their collective rear ends by the GOP congressmen. The DEMs got tangled in their own web, looked like sob sisters and petulant poseurs, and best of all, the Messiah looked (gasp!) merely mortal, and a weak one at that. A really bad day for the Leftist-in-Chief.

Drinks deep from the Obama Kool-aide dispenser (taxpayer funded, of course).
Substantive differences on policy approaches are brushed aside as mere "talking points" (as if the counter-proposals by the Dems aren't equally worthy of such dismissal); professor BHO professes off-teleprompter and stumbles with his facts; McCain and Alexander demonstrate Senatorial courtesy to the rookie POTUS; Ryan wipes the floor by relating what the public is saying (and the arrogant Dems are ignoring) - NO to this expansion of FedGov.

Please. There is no way Gergen will admit the truth -- he's way too compromised. How pathetic. Today's summit showed one thing: How completely immovable the GOP is on one of the most important issues facing our country. They bring nothing but talking points and were shot down by intelligence and dignity. McCain sounded like a feeble old crank, Cantor doesn't trust his 'alleged' constituents, and even Lamar got slammed to the mat for not knowing the nuances behind his wrong-headed accusations.
It was slaughter for the GOP. Your side came out looking like you didn't care for anyone of lesser means, and as arrogant prix.

backfired. Barry must have thought his mere presence would so intimidate the Republicans that they'd just fade into the wall paper and he'd have a forum to pontificate and bloviate.
But they fooled him, they were armed and ready for battle..I noticed he was rather testy when called out..poor baby, he's never been told NO before.
The Republicans did a good job, I was even impressed with the two Rino's McCain and Alexanders remarks..what we saw was the absolute arrogance of Barry and the leadership..Dingy got down right nasty with Tom Coburn, as if Coburn being a doctor had no right to be there and call their bluff.

"Of course I disagree with your characterization of Obama"
You can disagree all you want. The fact remains, he repeatedly said that during the campaign and is behaving just like a Washington insider still. Thats simple observation of words and actions. Is it that hard to see for you? Thats not a partisan issue for me, its a disdain for BS.
"I applaud Obama's decision to go around them, and get going on a crucial problem."
Its a bipartisan committee Coop. And considering he stepped on the gas pedal towards the cliff, thats like saying the Alpha Wolf is dealing with the other wolves failure to watch the henhouse.

First of all lets talk about "moral relativism?"
To me the quintessential example is "collateral damage," in an elective war, "ok". Medical abortion, "criminal"
Of course I disagree with your characterization of Obama, and am surprised that you would pick up Sarah Palin's "hopey-changey" cheer.
Since repubs declined to attack deficit reduction by 'think group,' I applaud Obama's decision to go around them, and get going on a crucial problem.
These hand-picked sound bites(out of context) are a waste of TH discussion time.
The Healthcare Reform bill has incorporated so many of the stated repub issues...that, for me its clear, the problem is purely political.
Ego envy, fueled by the mega-bucks, Rove...

Is that some kind of moral relativism?
Not sure if you caught on another post; Watched an archive clip of BHOs campaign yesterday. He was bloviating about "Washington was gonna form another "committee" to look into something. And that was Washingtons way of saying, We'll get back to ya." This was all part of his hopey/change rhetoric to change Washington... Fastforward to last week. We now have a Deficit Reduction "Committee" to look into that...He'll get back to ya.
