I agree with you. The con movement is leaderless right now. I'll keep voting for the Constitution Party until the Stupid Party gets someone I respect to run for the Presidency. I like Bachmann and think that she's being very smart right now in building towards the 2012 election. Too bad Newt is so squishy.

If you guys tell me most Tea Partiers have some ideological footing, then I absolutely take back what I said. Every media source I have seen, including Fox, has shown people that I just didn't see as positive faces for the movement. I know Rush loves to rail on the elite but in a very real sense he is an elite. I don't mean that as coming from a particular family or going to a particular school, but Rush is extremely intelligent, informed and well-read. I think we need some more elites. As Rush always says, our best and brightest are out working jobs and don't have time for all this protest stuff, but this Tea Party thing is bringing those people out. I hope that is true. As my law school prof (Lino Graglia) said the other day,...

He did look foolish - either answer with some names (which I can't say that there ARE any leaders except maybe Bachmann) OR just say that there are no leaders at this time.

I agree. My Tea Party Book Club just finished an intimate discussion of Beck's modern classic "Arguing with Idiots" and next we're moving on to Plato's "The Republic." Like two peas in a pod!
We're so enlightened, unlike those elitist slime.

to Salma, the ploy by the host of 'name a republican leader' is merely a distraction.
The answer is: The conservatives of the US are tying to rebuild the Republican party by developing a sound framework for the future. Much like the dismantling that took place in 1994 of the Dems, the Repubs may or may not thoughtfully consider this conservative framework. Most conservatives hope to avoid the type of radical shift that the Dems have experienced since 1994 while swinging towrd socialism. By having these ideals/principles 'percolate' from the grassroots, conservatives hope the Republican leadership will cleanse themselves from the corruption of the beltway. At this point, the leaders are still emerging.

I saw the detestable Chris Matthews doing this to Michelle Malkin once; --except with a snarl, and his spit flying at her face;
and the follow-up program, when Olbermann immediately remarked about how Malkin "had made an a s s / of herself," without mention of Matthews' incredible discourtesy--
That was the LAST time I watched anything over MSNBC. The most rotten network on earth.

I have no doubt but that guy has no idea who the Republican leadership is. Who does? For the Average Joe to not know anything about politics is one thing, but for someone going on a political debate show and not know is embarrassing. This, to me, is an issue with the "Tea Party" movement. There needs to be some unifying ideological and intellectual framework here. Are we really going to be the party of angry protesters with no ideas? Isn't that what the other party is? We all need to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Read Kirk, Hayek, whatever... but we really can't just read Glenn Beck's ADD-enhanced books. They are useful in that they go point by point but there needs to be something deeper. Again, not for everyone necessarily, but...

He had a 'tell' there.
Too bad the guest didn't say to him when asked by Matthews what he ment by that leg tingle remark the following: "I'm mocking you Mr. Matthews." "Mocking your frightful Obama love that came off as crypto homosexual slavishness." "I'm mocking you as millions of Americans did and do everytime they think of you and your "leg tingle" remark." "Imagine Mr. Matthews, people associate you with the leg tingle remark and will for your entire professional life; even more than they associate you with that creepy neck of yours."
I do hope I encounter him in a public place; I'll be first out of the gate and his leg won't tingle after he hears my view of his 'professional' life.

His words feign confusion over what the guy "means" but his face says, "Oh no, I've got to deal with that again." As for what he was saying before, it was a whole lotta nothing, per usual.

Matthews didn't like that! Did you see how quickly he tensed up? Every conservative that ever goes on Matthews' show should remind him that Obama once "made his leg tingle!"
