CNN's Tony Harris is so pumped-up as the Olympic Committee is about to announce their first cuts. This reminds me of his despairing reaction to the Cambridge, MA cop who "acted stupidly" announcing that he and his department would not apologize to Obama and their demanding Obama apologize. I will embed that clip below today's announcement.
Here's the same reaction by CNN's Tony Harris when the Cambridge, MA Police Dept. announced they would not apologize for "acting stupidly."

Poor Butterfly Mr Daley, lost the Olypics, boo hoo
honey, dont worry,i have the solution to turn this into a win win for you.............
Maybe you can get the contract for the Department of Revenue to Boot all the cars at the olympics,so you can chase all the business's out of their town, like ours, and you can sell all the cars to the Used Car Lot in Darien to get a fatter envelope!!!!!!!!!!
its funny when you cant extort the world like you extort your people!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great day,and a last trip as being mayor....maybe you can drive one of those trucks you pay your friends to let sit all day unless we have a catastrophy!!!!!
boot them cars baby, make people criminals that dont pay parking tickets, good prescription to...

You continue to miss the point, Mr. Munck.
I'm merely serving up to you the same irritating minutae that you constantly dole out here at TH.
I'm making no argument except to hold up a mirror so you can see youself a bit better.
Irritating, aren't you?

When you say nobody, you are apparently wrong again - arch, the only person to weigh in understood, and NOBODY seemed to come to your defense.
You see, by noteing that you actually understood that the discussion was about the four finalist for the games, yet you were so adamant about pointing out that Chicogo didn't come in last, you are proud winner of King of Silliet Triviality
Wear it well.

You don't seem to do mocking, sarcasm, or irony very well; nobody ever knows that that's what you're attempting. Maybe there's some kind of course you could take.
"The thread was obviously discussing the four cities in contention yesterday. Everyone understood that, including you."
So you claim you were mocking me, but here you are trying to spin the same point. That rather deflates the "mocking" claim, doesn't it? (There, I've given you a head start on that irony course.)

Did you notice that I discovered my mistake and corrected myself in the very next post (7:28 PM)?

Yeah, a lot of people dropped out at that point, when it got hard. I finished the entire eight semesters, all that were offered.

in the first place, 45% of Chicagoans did not NOT want the games. that poll has got to be idiotic nonsense--either loaded questions or just not scientifically gathered.
secondly, chicago was ousted due to game theory 101. it was the choice of committee members relative to Rio, but they wanted to vote first for Madrid to honor Juan Samarich or vote first for Tokyo to express Asian solidarity or to commend Tokyo for their "greenness." They would get to Chicago in rounds 2 and 3.

And those folks in Chicago..? Lety's see, Y'all: Do you want your corrupt, shameful politicians filling their graft riddled pockets with payoffs from their high roller buds who'll make out like bandits off the games...? NO? Nein? Nyet? Negative?
Got'cha. What a surprise.

Supposedly this has happened before. One of the two favorites goes down in the first round--because committee members figured they'd get to them when their sentimental favorites were ousted. If the committee members had used an instant-runoff...

"This has all added to the perception that Mr Obama’s soaring rhetoric — which captured the imagination during last year’s election — is simply not enough when it comes to confronting the myriad challenges of the presidency. His spectacular Olympic failure will only add to that."

If you see this, I just wanted to say I agree with you totally. The machine was gearing up for a big taxpayer screw job. Michele already covered it - they're called TIFs (tax increment financing).
Obumma was expected to deliver the olympics to Daley - a big quid pro quo for all the financiers who put him in office.
It's also a huge rebuke to the Messiah who has been currying favor with the international community at the expense of the country which he represents.
His domestic numbers have been plummeting. The Chicago machine is now pi$$ed at him. And now his image has been punctured internationally - he loses on both sides.
Yes, 10/2/09 was a hugely satisfying day!!!

Obama has been going around the world condemning and apologizing for the USA for the last 9 months.
Wouldn't this make the IOC a raciest organization?

It's a shame that conservatives hate Obama so much that Chicago's loss of the Olympics in 2016, which most Americans wanted, is seen as a failing of Obama. If he hadn't attempted to support getting the Olympics, conservatives would have faulted him for not caring enough about America to try to get the Chicago Olympics.
There is something seriously wrong when your hatred blinds you so much that you like to see your country miss out on a great opportunity so that you can call your own president a failure. What has become of conservatives in this country??

In case you disagree with my last post, this is you taking someone to task by saying Chicago came in last:
"Actually, of those who bid, Prague, Baku, and one other city came in last. They were eliminated in previous rounds."
The thread was obviously discussing the four cities in contention yesterday. Everyone understood that, including you.
That's why I was mocking you about being the King of Silliest Triviality.

Obummer barely congratulated Rio. For the liberal darling speaker, he sure was bumbling and a stumbling through his "congratulation" to Brazil and Rio. He could hardly spit out the country name. He was clearly peed off that his world power fell flat on the rim. He claimed to be all for hispanics when he was nominating liberalsocialist Sotomayor, but hates the fact that Brazil will be the first South American country to host the Olympics. He just stammmered all the way through the faked praise for Rio because he was so mad his cronies in Chicago won't get to reap the benefits of a corrupt Chicago Olympic.

Had the Olympics been awarded to Chicago it would have been lauded in the press as a great victory for Obama. Since it was not awarded to Chicago some will say that it was a great failure of Obama. Either way the story has to be spun by proponents or opponents of Obama. Obama may have helped or hurt Chicago's cause.
This is the first Olympics in the southern hemisphere. Is it possible that was on the IOC's mind? As political as the Olympics can be, it should still try to remain apolitical. The fact that the president of the U.S. and his wife both went to lobby Chicago's cause may not have set well with the Olympic spirit in the eyes of some.
A president may be smart but he should also be wise. A prudent, wise man would...

The bid should have gone to Los Angeles, the only city that can stage the event, on budget, and make a profit.
Having worked on three Olympics, 1984, 1996 and 2002 I have to be glad that Chicago didn't get the event and drudgereport has it so correct.

Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid, and Rio de Janeiro were all finalists, all other contestants having been previously eliminated. Chicago was the first city to be rejected today.

My six semesters of Latin mean that words such as "penultimate" present less difficulty for me than they do for you, since you seem to have been intent on misusing it: Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting today; the city taken out in the penultimate round was Tokyo.

Only an egocentric moron could be so stupid as to criticize the country that has done so much for him with so little in return from him and bo did it again at the olympics meeting, couldn't resist ! bo actually believes that the rest of the civilized world is as stupid as the give me my next hand out sheep that follow him here in the USA. Would Jakk have been as sanguine about our Pres. flying to Europe to beg for the Olympics while a war is going on if Bush were the man in question? No. We would hear on and on about misuse of funds in flying to Europe, aren't there more important things he could be doing, blah blah blah. Obama can do no wrong for the left, and Bush could do no right.
