New regulations kick in on Thursday, and the cost of buying and selling a home just went through the roof!

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s  Renovation, Repair and Painting rule regarding Lead, kicks in April 22nd 2010!   Here is what it will do to you.

The rule addresses remodeling and renovation projects disturbing more than six square feet per room of potentially contaminated painted surfaces for all residential and multifamily structures built prior to 1978.  (The size of a standard door).   The rule addresses structures inhabited or frequented by pregnant women and children under the age of six.  Daycare centers in commercial building too.
