The female Republican candidate for Mayor of Omaha, Jean Stothert is enduring some of the ugliest misogynist attacks political experts say they have ever seen (http://www.omaha.com/article/20130318/NEWS/703199957/1685#sexist-attacks-against-stothert-among-most-disgusting-one-national-expert-has-seen).

It's become predictable that NOW shills only for Democrat women, so perhaps it's no surprise that no one from that organization has stepped forward to denounce these despicable, women-hating stunts.

Bit it's worth suggesting to the GOP that it loudly denounce these tactics.  If the party is serious aboutI enhancing its outreach to women, one way it can send this signal loud and clear is to make sure it steps up with vigor to denounce the kind of attacks that are uniquely made against women candidates -- just as it would (and should) were racist or anti-Semitic attacks were launched against minority or Jewish candidates. Certainly, such a defense is right -- but, it's not primarily about protecting the feelings of female or other male candidates (you'd better be tough enough to take it if you're willing to run). Ultimately, the defense serves to highlight GOP concerns about unfairness based only on race or gender . . . and as such, it's an important part of the party outreach that's now being initiated.
