The New York Post has reported that, unbeknownst to parents, New York City schools have given out tens of thousands of the "morning after" pill to students over the last three years.
Here is a key paragraph from the story:
[Mona] Davids [President of the NYC Parents Union and mother of a 14-year-old], who is black, noted that most school-based health centers are in poor neighborhoods.
“This was population control on blacks and Latinos without our knowledge,” she said.
Such a view is entirely understandable, given that 62.5% of Planned Parenthood (abortion) clinics are located in predominantly African American neighborhoods. It would almost seem as though there is a concerted effort to stop "certain people" from procreating, wouldn't it?
What is most offensive about the distribution of Plan B without parents' knowledge is the implicit insult to both parents and children that it comprehends. As for parents, there is an underlying assumption that parents either welcome the aborting of their children's babies or that their beliefs about abortion have no part in the raising of their children; as for children, there is an underlying assumption that it is hopeless to teach about morality-based sexual decision-making.
Instead, apparently, the NYC school system sees the young people as little more than animals -- just find some way to stop 'em from breeding. Offensive.
