With the nomination of Chuck Hagel, President Obama put a thumb in the eye of Republicans and supporters of Israel. Then he nominated Jack Lew to Treasury, a guy who has had a terrible relationship with Hill Republicans, managing to anger both John Boehner and Mitch McConnell during negotiations.
But just as significant are the names of the Cabinet secretaries Obama has asked to stay on: Eric Holder as AG, Kathleen Sebelius at HHS, and Eric Shinseki at VA.
At least two of the three have been controversial highly partisan brawlers -- Holder, of course, with Fast & Furious, and Sebelius with the freedom-crushing ObamaCare abortifacient/contraceptive mandate.
Reading the tea leaves, it's clear that, post-election, President Obama plans to try to work his will on Congress and the American people with little regard to the once-beloved liberal buzz words like "civility," "comity," and "bipartisanship." Just as clearly, the press is going to let him get away with it.
