The MSM has its own agenda for this election. Put simply, it is to help re-elect Barack Obama.

We saw it in politics coverage over the weekend.  After a convention in which the President delivered a lackluster speech, the head of the DNC lied openly, the most extreme abortion policy was celebrated -- and delegates booed God and the traditional platform language defining the capital of Jerusalem -- we were told that the President was well-positioned for reelection and the Romney campaign was in disarray and despair.

We have seen it before ini the MSM's foreign policy coverage of Romney. There are numerous ways the tour was a success -- including politically priceless visuals with Lech Walesa and Benjamin Netanyahu.  You wouldn't have known it from the MSM coverage, however, as exemplified by a piece in the WaPo headlined in part, "Mitt Romney's Foreign Trip Didn't Go Well."

Today, the same MSM dynamic is in evidence. In the aftermath of the debacle for the Obama foreign policy of "leading from behind," we are seeing the press rush in to try to protect Obama again.  All Romney did was release a statement expressing the anger and indignation -- frankly shared by EVERY decent American -- at the outrageous treatment America and its interests were subjected to on 9/11 (including the death of our ambassador!). It would have been ridiculous for Romney to remain silent, actually -- and he spoke for millions of Americans  in a way that the apologetic, mealy-mouthed administration doesn't.  Here is what Romney said:

“I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi.  It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

How does the press cover these facts?  As a process story, of course, as Katrina Trinko points out. It's another transparent effort to shift the narrative, boost the President, redirect public indignation, and convince voters that it's Romney who's made a mistake  . . . not the President whose "from behind" leadership is reaping some ugly results. In essence, they are saying, "So who are you going to believe, voters? Your own better judgment or our 'expert' opinion?" Here is the media meme -- set by WaPo lefty blogger Ezra Klein -- that will be pushed hard in the coming days: "The Romney Campaign Gets Desperate."

No, Ezra, it hasn't. But our allegedly "unbiased" press grows increasingly and transparently partisan, as the President's supposed foreign policy "successes" are revealed -- like the rest of his presidency -- to be utterly hollow.
