William Ayers Vents

William Ayers Vents
Domestic terrorist William Ayers vented about the GOP's criticism of his friendship with Barack Obama and Vietnam in a column today.

Ayers said it was "just plain stupid" for John McCain and Sarah Palin to demand more details about the relationship--although McCain, much to the chagrin of many conservatives, never did this.

Ayers said McCain's fixation on Vietnam ("a war of terror against a civilian population") made him demonize the 60's era, but never mentions the demonic things he did during that time.

"McCain and Palin—or as our late friend Studs Terkel put it, 'Joe McCarthy in drag'—would like to bury the ’60s," Ayers wrote.  "The ’60s, after all, was a time of rejecting obedience and conformity in favor of initiative and courage. The ’60s pushed us to a deeper appreciation of the humanity of every human being. And that is the threat it poses to the right wing, hence the attacks and all the guilt by association."
