De Blasio: Yeah, I Would Totally Tell The ‘Colored People’s Time’ Joke Again

In case you missed it, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio fell into a minor controversy when he, along with Hillary Clinton, were part of a skit where he joked that he was running on “CP (colored people’s) time” regarding his endorsement of Hillary Clinton at the annual Inner Circle musical. The event is a long-standing tradition where New York’s political elite is mocked by the press.

In an ironic twist, the mayor found himself defending the skit as satire, which wasn’t meant to offend. De Blasio was a guest on MSNBC’s Chris Hayes’s show, where he asked the mayor why doesn’t he just apologize and say they shouldn’t have done the joke.

“It’s a satire,” said de Blasio. “I’m sorry–look I take full responsibility; someone else wrote the script, but I approved it. So, I just think sometimes there’s a place for satire in this world and that’s what this was,” he added,

When asked by Hayes if he would do it again, the mayor said he would be “comfortable” with it.

“It was meant to be a joke on the way we speak; it was obviously not meant to offend anyone,” said De Blasio.

Funny, that’s what a lot of stand-up comedians say about their acts being attacked by previous cupcakes of the far left for being politically incorrect, though the racial connotations are usually not as explicit as the one uttered by De Blasio. Still, the race remarks from the left are getting a bit more aggressive, especially when Clinton said she carried hot sauce in her bag during an interview with 101.5’s Breakfast Club yesterday. Even the hosts of the program, DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God, remarked that many would see her comment as pandering to black voters ahead of Tuesday’s primary.

“Okay, is it working?” Clinton asked, which drew laughter from everyone. The Washington Post it could be true or she could be referencing Beyoncé. Either way, I doubt that she indeed carries hot sauce in her bag, so this is most likely an egregious form of pandering. If a Republican said this, left wing rag Salon would not be calling this an “impressive suck-up.” If she’s trying to make herself look more authentic, it’s not working.

As for De Blasio, well, it’s typical for liberals to say you just don’t get it when the PC crowd targets them. At least he’s presiding over a Democratic bastion, so he could probably say it again, or something a notch or two worse, and get away with it.
