In the cold, gray numbers of election returns and exit poll percentages, a reader with some imagination can find clues to people's deep feelings, their hopes and fears, their self-images and moral values.

It was only a matter of time in this Age of the Poll that some mastermind at a political headquarters would decide to ask the almighty American public to pass judgment on God along with more temporal rulers.

On January 3th, the day before the appointments, Obama’s job approval ratings, according to RealClearPolitics, averaged 47.2 approval and 47.8 disapproval. Basically a tie. Today, his job approval is at 44.5 and disapproval is 50.3. Moving over the course of a week from a tie to a spread of almost 6 percentage points.

There’s a great 1959 movie starring Peter Sellers called “The Mouse That Roared.” It’s about the “Duchy of Grand Fenwick” and a plot to get economic aid from the United States.

Judging by the number of comments on the story, liberals are very offended that I believe Obama is the "The Worst of All Possible Presidents." Somehow, I think, I'll learn to live with the guilt. Over time, I might even learn to laugh about it. Yep: Time's up.

Political pundits suggest that Colorado is “the king of swing states,” a “critical swing state,” and a “super swing state” because of the movement of our political pendulum from red to blue to purple in just the last decade, as well as our high number of unaffiliated voters. If that's true Democrats are dead, politically.

As we find ourselves gliding through another week of political headlines, I continue to be amazed by the ream of personal attacks mounted against Herman Cain by black liberals. From calling Cain a “sell out” to “Uncle Tom” because he chooses to be a Republican doesn’t sound like progressive talk to me but rather backwards racist talk.

Reducing the power of bankers and the political class — along with gold’s empirical record of turbo-charging job-creation and economic growth — is core for gold’s proponents. Thus, that inevitably will become public knowledge and make gold a potentially huge electoral asset.

Ask yourself: If similar accusations were aimed at any liberal candidate would the mainstream media, aside from condemning the charges, give them much publicity? Ask Paula Jones, harassed by the media for daring to accuse President Clinton of sexually abusing her. They smeared her mercilessly.

The Washington Post's vendetta against Cuban-American Marco Rubio continues with another hit-piece last week and with MSM soulmates CNN and The Los Angeles Times chiming in. But the WaPo's rancor against the most lopsidedly Republican voters in America didn’t start with the Rubio hit-piece last month.

Recently, Jan Eberly, the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy, wrote a post that essentially amounted to a defense of Washington’s over-regulation, saying to small business owners and entrepreneurs across the country: “There isn’t anything wrong with our regulations. No problem here.”
