AS A card-carrying American exceptionalist, I don't share the presumption that a US policy should be changed just because it puts America at odds with the prevailing world view.
Along with an estimated 637,000 people from the U.S. recently, Paris Hilton and Conan OBrien somehow squeaked through the cracks of the diabolical U.S. blockade of Cuba for a visit to Havana. (Btw, in the 1950ws when Cuba was a U.S. tourist playground! an average 200,000 Americans visited Cuba annually.)
President Obama’s presidency is in many ways the sad tale of a promising and, at one time, confident rising star who instead withered into an equivocating and uncertain Hamlet-like figure. He is haunted by a ghost named President Bush.
