The Obama administration's loathsome cowboy, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, won't take no for an answer. He's been smacked down repeatedly by federal courts for imposing a draconian, junk science-based moratorium on the oil and gas industry. Yet, the job-killing zealot and his boss just introduced another ruinous offshore drilling ban two weeks ago.
There is a revolution going on America. But it is not part of the Tea Party or the loud Occupy Wall Street protests.
Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, had a saying: “The Americans cannot do a damned thing.” Tehran has tested that proposition time and again – conspiring, over three decades, to kill Americans in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Afghanistan.
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the official end to the administration’s deepwater drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico, a milestone the House Natural Resources Committee is appropriately marking with a hearing on the continued reverberations of that decision.
In half a heartbeat the Obama team could put the kibosh to the most dangerous offshore oil drilling ever proposed near U.S. shores, scheduled to begin in December by a Spanish/Cuban corporation. By fighting this drilling his “Environmentalist” allies could get the biggest bang for their lobbying buck in their history.
Of all the absolutely mindless things coming out of Washington these days, it’s hard for me to imagine anything more mindless than the Obama administration’s thinking on energy policy.
With our economy continuing to falter, the discussion of leveraging our nation’s vast energy resources to create jobs is taking on renewed importance.
Frustrated that Congress refused to enact cap-tax-and-trade, President Obama unleashed EPA to promulgate thousands of pages of rules governing carbon dioxide, “toxic” pollutants that have already been reduced dramatically, “cross-state transport” of emissions, and other power plant operations. All tout health claims based on virtual reality computer models, cherry-picked research and illusory benefits.
